get_env() was originally written to strip() the output of printenv to
isolate the test from any whitespace changes in printenv's output.
However, this throws away any whitespace in the variable value, which can
cause issues when test code expects to see that whitespace. In fact,
printenv never adds any whitespace at all, so there's no need to strip.
The strip causes a practical problem for test_env_echo_exists() if
state_test_env.get_existent_var() happens to choose a U-Boot variable that
contains trailing whitespace. This is true for variable boot_targets.
With Python 2, get_existent_var() never returned boot_targets so this
issue never caused a practical problem.
With Python 3, get_existent_var does sometimes return boot_targets, no
doubt due to Python 3's different dict hash key order implementation,
about 0.5-2% of the time, so this test appears intermittent. With the
strip removed, this intermittency is solved, since the test passes for all
possible U-Boot variables.

Improve i2c EEPROM simulator testing by providing access functions to
check the previous chip addr and offset.
Given that we can now directly test the offsets, also simplified the
offset mapping and allow for wrapping acceses.

Those will verify a behavior fixed by the commits related to

handling long-file-name directory entries under a directory.

Allow the unit test to pass full 8 byte scan code sequences to the USB
keyboard emulation driver and to parse multi-byte escape sequences.

OP-TEE can get supplied with a devicetree and will then insert
its firmware node and reserved-memory sections into it.
As this devicetree often is not the one supplied to a later
loaded kernel, a previous commit added functionality to transfer
these nodes onto that new devicetree.
To make sure this functionality stays intact, also add a test
for the transfer functionality.

On x86 platforms the SPI flash can be mapped into memory so that the
contents can be read with normal memory accesses.
Add a new SPI method to find the location of the SPI flash in memory. This
differs from the existing device-tree "memory-map" mechanism in that the
location can be discovered at run-time.

We have two further uses of raw string usage in the test/py codebase
that are used under CI. The first of which is under the bind test and
is a direct update. The second of which is to strip VT100 codes from
the match buffer. While switching this to a raw string is also a direct
update, the comment it notes that problems were encountered on Ubuntu
14.04 (and whatever Python 2 version that was) that required slight
tweaks to the regex. Replace that now that we're saying Python 3.5 is
the minimum.

Now that we have moved to being based on pytest for python3 we need to
make our test.py wrapper more robust in terms of only calling python3
rather than possibly finding and using python2. To do this, change from
execvp()'ing pytest to invoking the package itself via python. In the
event that pytest is unavailable we still get a user-friendly error:

The check_output function from the subprocess Python module by default
returns data as encoded bytes and leaves decoding to the application.
Given our uses of the call, it makes the most sense to immediately
decode the results.

- In python 3 you must use raw strings for regex as other forms are
deprecated and would require further changes to the pattern here.
In one case this lets us have a simpler match pattern.
- As strings are now Unicode our complex tests (Euro symbol,
SHIFT+ALT+FN 5) we need to declare that as a bytes string and then
decode it for use.

- Modern pytest is more visible in telling us about parameters that we
had not described, so describe a few more.
- ConfigParser.readfp(...) is now configparser.read_file(...)
- As part of the "strings vs bytes" conversions in Python 3, we use the
default encoding/decoding of utf-8 but in some places tell Python to
replace problematic conversions rather than throw a fatal error.
- Fix a typo noticed while doing the above ("tot he" -> "to the").
- As suggested by Stephen, re-alphabetize the import list
- Per Heinrich, replace how we write contents in test_fit.py

We inconsistently note multiple dependencies today in our tests,
sometimes with a single line that declares multiple and sometimes
multiple single lines. Current pytest seems to fail on the single line
format so change to multiple declarations.

At present the 'Index' column of 'dm tree' assumes there is
two digits, this patch increase it to 3 digits.
It also aligns output of 'dm uclass', assuming the same 3 digits index.
The boards with CONFIG_PINCTRL_FULL activated have one pinconfig
by pin configuration, so they can have more than 100 devices
pinconfig (for example with stm32mp157c-ev1 board we have
106 pinconfig node).

Introduce rproc_elf_get_boot_addr() that returns the entry point of
the elf file. This api auto detects the 64/32 bit elf file and returns
the boot addr accordingly.

rproc_elf32_load_image() rely on user to send a valid address for elf loading.
Instead do a sanity check on the address passed by user. This will help
all rproc elf users to not call sanity_check explicitly before calling

At present PCI address transaction is not supported so drivers must
manually read the correct BAR after reading the device tree info. The
ns16550 has a suitable implementation, so move this code into the core
DM support.
Note that there is no live-tree equivalent at present.

At present tests that are marked as only for livetree fail when executed
on sandbox_flattree. They cannot actually be executed, but we should not
resport them as 'not found', since this causes errors. Instead, they
should be silently skipped.

At present when multiple 'ut dm' commands are executed, all but the first
is run with a flat tree, even if live tree is enabled. This is because the
live tree node pointer is set to NULL and never restored.
This does not affect normal test running, which just runs all the test in
one go, but can be confusing when several individual tests are run during
the same U-Boot run.
Correct this by restoring the pointer.

Since we added clk enable_count and prograte clk child enabling
operation to clk parent, so add a new function sandbox_clk_enable_count
to get enable_count for test usage.
And add test code to get the enable_count after we enable/disable
the device clk.

Current dev_read_*() API lacks support to get address and size
of a "reg" property by name or index. Add support for the same.
Livetree support has been added but not tested on real hardware.
The existing unit tests testing reading address from device-tree
have been updated to test address as well as size.

Avoid using a typedef here which is unnecessary. Add an 'env_' prefix to
both the enum and its members to make it clear that these are related to
the environment.
Add an ENV prefix to these two flags so that it is clear what they relate
to. Also move them to env.h since they are part of the public API. Use an
enum rather than a #define to tie them together.

U-Boot is not supposed to use typedef for structs anymore. Also this name
is the same as the ENTRY() macro used in assembler files, and 'entry'
itself is widely used in U-Boot (>8k matches).
Drop the typedef and rename the struct to env_entry to reduce confusion.

The Linux ramdisk should always be decompressed by the kernel itself,
not by U-Boot. Therefore, the 'compression' node in the FIT image should
always be set to "none" for ramdisk images, since the only point of
using that node is if you want U-Boot to do the decompression itself.
Yet some systems populate the node to the compression algorithm used by
the kernel instead. This used to be ignored, but now that we support
decompression of all image types it becomes a problem. Since ramdisks
should never be decompressed by U-Boot anyway, this patch adds a special
exception for them to avoid these issues. Still, setting the
'compression' node like that is wrong in the first place, so we still
want to print out a warning so that third-party distributions doing this
can notice and fix it.

This patch adds support for compressing non-kernel image nodes in a FIT
image (kernel nodes could already be compressed previously). This can
reduce the size of FIT images and therefore improve boot times
(especially when an image bundles many different kernel FDTs). The
images will automatically be decompressed on load.
This patch does not support extracting compatible strings from
compressed FDTs, so it's not very helpful in conjunction with
CONFIG_FIT_BEST_MATCH yet, but it can already be used in environments
that select the configuration to load explicitly.

Upcoming patches want to add decompression to use cases that are no
longer directly related to booting. It makes sense to retain a single
decompression routine, but it should no longer be in bootm.c (which is
not compiled for all configurations). This patch moves
bootm_decomp_image() to image.c and renames it to image_decomp() in

Add the following functions to translate DMA address to CPU address:
- dev_translate_dma_address()
- ofnode_translate_dma_address()
- of_translate_dma_address()
- fdt_translate_dma_address()
These functions work the same way as xxx_translate_address(), with the
difference that the translation relies on the "dma-ranges" property
instead of the "ranges" property.

This patch provides code to implement the CCF clock tree in sandbox. It
uses all the introduced primitives; some generic ones are reused, some
sandbox specific were developed.
In that way (after introducing the real CCF tree in sandbox) the recently
added to clk-uclass.c: clk_get_by_id() and clk_get_parent_rate() are tested
in their natural work environment.
Usage (sandbox_defconfig and sandbox_flattree_defconfig):

So we replace them when leaving boottime. Move this from

uclass, including binding children.

In the UEFI context GUIDs are expected to be rendered in upper case.
The patch uses the formerly unused bit 1 of the parameter str_format
of function uuid_bin_to_str() to indicate if we need upper or lower case
output.
Function uuid_string() in vsprint.c is adjusted to correctly set the bit
depending on the print format code.

Fix test_mmc_dev(), test_mmc_rescan(), test_mmc_info() not to use the
same configuration data that test_mmc_rd() does. Doing so causes the
following issues:
* The new code uncondtionally expects certain keys to exist in the
configuration data. These keys do not exist in existing configuration
data since they were not previously required, and there was no
notification re: a requirement to add these new keys. This causes test
failures due to thrown exceptions when accessing the non-existent keys.
* The new tests logically operate on different objects. test_mmc_rd()
operates on ranges of sectors on an MMC device (which may be the entire
set of sectors of a device, or a part of a device), whereas all the new
tests operate solely on entire devices. These are separate things, and
it's entirely likely that the user will wish to runs the two types of
tests on different sets of data; see the example configuration data that
this commit adds. Ideally, the new tests would have been added to a
separate Python file, since they aren' closely related to the existing
tests.

display_options_get_banner_priv() overwrites bytes before the start of the
buffer if the buffer size is less then 3. This case occurs in the Sandbox
when executing the `ut_print` command.
Correctly handle small buffer sizes. Adjust the print unit test to catch
when bytes before the buffer are overwritten.

The EBBR specification prescribes that we should have either an ACPI table
or a device tree but not both.
So do not run the device tree unit test on boards with an ACPI table.
Hence there is no need any longer to make it 'on request' only.
Do not pass $fdtcontroladdr to `bootefi selftest`.

Change the function syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle()
introduced by commit 6c3af1f24e ("syscon: dm: Add a

Linux-compatible syscon API.

This is because we don't update the "information sector" on FAT32.
While in the future we should resolve this problem and include that

We need to make sure that file writes,file creation, etc. are properly
performed and do not corrupt the filesystem.
To help with this, introduce the assert_fs_integrity() function that
executes the appropriate fsck tool. It should be called at the end of any
test that modify the content/organization of the filesystem.
Currently only supports FATs and EXT4.

In the extended text input protocol CTRL-A - CTRL-Z have to be signaled as
Unicode characters a-z or A-Z depending on the shift state and not as 0x01
to 0x1a.

Some audio codecs such as Intel HDA do not need to use digital data to
play sounds, but instead have a way to emit beeps. Add this interface as
an option. If the beep interface is not supported, then the sound uclass
falls back to the I2S interface.

At present the PCH has 4 operations and these are reasonably widely used
in the drivers. But sometimes we want to add rarely used operations, and
each of these currently adds to the size of the PCH operations table.
Add an ioctl() method which can be easily expanded without any more impact
on the operations table.

In test/py/conftest.py the assumption is made that for if a test is called
with `ut unicode` the test function name starts with 'unicode_test_'. As
the Unicode tests did not follow this naming scheme they were not executed
by `make tests`.

On x86_64 the size of the file u-boot loaded by the tftp test has grown in
size such that when loading the file to 0x200000 it overwrites a memory
area reserved for PCI.
If no load address is specified for tftp do not use the ram base address
(or if zero 0x200000) but the default address.

regulator_set_enable() api throws an error in the following three cases:
- when requested to disable an always-on regulator
- when set_enable() ops not provided by regulator driver
- when enabling is actually failed.(Error returned by the regulator driver)
Sometimes consumer drivers doesn't want to track the first two scenarios
and just need to worry about the case where enabling is actually failed.
But it is also a good practice to have an error value returned in the
first two cases.
So introduce an api regulator_set_enable_if_allowed() which ignores the
first two error cases and returns an error as given by regulator driver.
Consumer drivers can use this api need not worry about the first two
error conditions.

Only first previously deleted entry was recognized, leading hsearch_r
to think that there was no previously deleted entry. It then conluded
that a free entry was found, even if there were no free entries and it
overwrote a random entry.
This patch makes sure all deleted or free entries are always found and
also introduces constants for the 0 and -1 numbers. Unit tests to excersise a
simple hash table usage and catch the corruption were added.
To trash your environment, simply run this loop:

When dealing with two ethernet ports and having "netretry" set
to "once", it could occur that the connection (e.g. an ARP
request) failed, hence the status of the netloop was
"NETLOOP_FAIL". Due to the setting of "netretry", the network
logic would then switch to the other network interface,
assigning "ret" with the return value of "net_start_again()".
If this call succeeded we would return 0 (i.e. success) to
the caller when in reality the network action failed.

This adds two new functions, lmb_alloc_addr and
lmb_get_unreserved_size.
lmb_alloc_addr behaves like lmb_alloc, but it tries to allocate a
pre-specified address range. Unlike lmb_reserve, this address range
must be inside one of the memory ranges that has been set up with
lmb_add.
lmb_get_unreserved_size returns the number of bytes that can be
used up to the next reserved region or the end of valid ram. This
can be 0 if the address passed is reserved.
Added test for these new functions.

lmb_add_region handles overlapping regions wrong: instead of merging
or rejecting to add a new reserved region that overlaps an existing
one, it just adds the new region.
Since internally the same function is used for lmb_alloc, change
lmb_add_region to reject overlapping regions.
Also, to keep reserved memory correct after 'free', reserved entries
created by allocating memory must not set their size to a multiple
of alignment but to the original size. This ensures the reserved
region is completely removed when the caller calls 'lmb_free', as
this one takes the same size as passed to 'lmb_alloc' etc.
Add test to assert this.

The lmb code fails if base + size of RAM overflows to zero.
Fix this by calculating end as 'base + size - 1' instead of 'base + size'
where appropriate.

At present one of the regmap tests takes 5 seconds to run since it waits
for a timeout. This should be handled using sandbox_timer_add_offset()
which advances time for test purposes.
This requires a little change to make the regmap_read_poll_timeout()
testable.
Update the macro and the test.

At present the 'Index' column assumes there is only one digit. But on some
devices (e.g. snow) there are a lot of regulators and GPIO banks. Adjust
the output to allow for two digits without messing up the display.

Enable device tree overlay tests by default if unit tests are selected
and the runtime is configured via device tree.
Overlays have been mainlined in the device tree compiler so there is no
reason anymore to disable the tests by default.

The current dev_read...() functions use s32 and u32 which are convenient
for device tree but not so useful for normal code, which often wants to
use normal integers for values.
Add a helper which supports returning an unsigned int. Also add signed
versions of the unsigned readers.

The sound driver pulls together the audio codec and i2s drivers in order
to actually make sounds. It supports setup() and play() methods. The
sound_find_codec_i2s() function allows locating the linked codec and i2s
devices. They can be referred to from uclass-private data.

The i2s bus is commonly used with audio codecs. It provides a way to
stream digital data sychronously in both directions. U-Boot only supports
audio output, so this uclass is very simple, with a single tx_data()
method.

The uts created in do_ut_overlay() is not the one used in
cmd_ut_category(). Currently all tests are therefore called with
uts->priv = NULL and fail.
Using a static variable is the easiest fix here.

If U-Boot is started from SPL or TPL, then those earlier phases deal with
the reset cause. On real hardware this cause may be lost once it is read.
Emulate that behaviour in sandbox by reporting a warm reset when a
previous phase has run since start-up.

Add two functions which can find a child device by uclass or by name.
The first is useful with Multi-Function-Devices (MFDs) to find one of a
particular type. The second is useful when only the name is known.

At present tests are quite slow to run, over a minute on my machine. This
presents a considerable barrier to bisecting for failures.
The slowest tests are the filesystem ones and the buildman --fetch-arch
test. Add a new 'qcheck' target that skips these tests. This reduces test
time down to about 40 second, still too long, but bearable.

There is some basic informaton that SPL normally wants to pass through to
U-Boot, such as the SDRAM size and bank information.
Mkae use of the new bloblist structure for this. Add a new 'handoff' blob
which is set up in SPL and passed to U-Boot proper. Also adda test for
sandbox_spl that checks that this works correctly and a new 'sb' command
to show the information passed from SPL.

It is sometimes useful to restart sandbox with some particular flags to
test certain functionality. Add a new method to ConsoleSandbox to handle
this, without changing the existing APIs.

We should use a macro rather than hard-coding the SPL prompt to 'spl'
since the code can be used by TPL too. Add a macro that works for both
and use it in various places.
This allows TPL to use the same code without printing confusing messages.
Note that the string is lower case ('spl', 'tpl') which is a change from
previously.

It is useful to obtain the block-protect setting of the SPI flash, so we
know whether it is fully open or (perhaps partially) write-protected. Add
a method for this. Update the sandbox driver to process this operation and
add a test.

The current test is a functional test, covering all the way from the
command line to the sandbox SPI driver. This is useful, but it is easier
to diagnose failures with a smaller test.
Add a simple test which reads and writes data and checks that it is stored
and retrieved correctly.

At present these functions return 0 on success. For some devices we want
to know how many bytes were transferred. It seems useful to adjust the API
to be more like the POSIX read() and write() functions.

With drivers that have prefix names that are quite long (like
'versatile_') it is useful to have a wider column for the driver's
name when dumping the device driver tree.
Also update the tests to take into account the wider output format.

The terminal escape sequence ESC [ <x> ; <y> H is used to set the cursor
position. According to the ECMA 48 standard the upper left corner in the
escape sequences is [1, 1]. The video uclass uses [0, 0] as upper left
corner.

The blk_base test case creates a USB mass storage block device with
the Sandbox host block device as its parent. This does not make any
sense and causes potential issue, for example if the test case tries
to read/write anything on the USB mass storage block device it will
definitely fail as its parent is not on USB bus at all.
Correct the test case by creating another Sandbox host block device
instead of the USB mass storage one and adjust the case accordingly.

The upcoming changes to the regmap interface will contain a proper check
for plausibility when reading/writing from/to a register map. To still
have the current tests pass, increase the size of the memory region for
the syscon0 device, since one of the tests reads and writes beyond this
range.

Add test which checks if a PCI device described in DT with an
entry and reg = <...> property, but without compatible string
results in a valid U-Boot PCI udevice with the udevice.node
populated with reference to this DT node. Also check if the
other PCI device without a DT node does not contain any bogus
udevice.node.

Peter originally sent a fix, but it breaks a number of other things.
This addresses the original reported issue in a different way.
That report was:

The target will respond to pings while doing other network handling.
Make sure that the response happens and is correct.
This currently corrupts the ongoing operation of the device if it
happens to be awaiting an ARP reply of its own to whatever serverip it
is attempting to communicate with. In the test, add an expectation that
the user operation (ping, in this case) will fail. A later patch will
address this problem.

This tests that ARP requests made to this target's IP address are
responded-to by the target when it is doing other networking operations.

We have a method to return the last reset as a string for humans, but not
a method that allows it to be used programmatically. Add a new method that
returns the last reset as an enum.

At present the panel can be turned on but not off, and the brightness
cannot be controlled at run-time. Add a new API function to both the panel
and backlight uclasses to handle this. Enhance the PWM backlight driver
to deal with custom levels properly and allow the backlight to be turned
on and off.
Update the test to cover thes new features.

At present ofnode_read_fmap_entry() reads a flash map entry in a format
which is not supported by binman. To allow use to use binman-format
descriptions, update this function.

At present there are many situations where sandbox syncs the display to
the SDL frame buffer. This is a very expensive operation but is only
needed every now and then. Update video_sync() so that we can specify
whether this operation is really needed.
At present this flag is not used on other architectures. It could also
be used for reducing writeback-cache flushes but the benefit of that would
need to be investigated.

At present to output a log message you need something like:
log(UCLASS_SPI, LOCL_INFO, "message1");
log(UCLASS_SPI, LOCL_INFO, "message2");
but many files use the same category throughout. Also it is helpful to
shorten the length of log names, providing helpers for common logging
levels. Add some macros so that it is possible to do:
(top of file, before #includes)

At present the tests run one after the other using a single CPU. This is
not very efficient. Bring in the concurrencytest module and run the tests
concurrently, using one process for each CPU by default. A -P option
allows this to be overridden, which is necessary for code-coverage to
function correctly.
This requires fixing a few tests which are currently not fully
independent.
At some point we might consider doing this across all pytests in U-Boot.
There is a pytest version that supports specifying the number of processes
to use, but it did not work for me.

We only need to run driver-model tests with this config, since this is the
only thing that is different when CONFIG_OF_LIVE is not defined. Filter

At present the tests are run without any indication of what is running.
For the tests which start with a build this is pretty obvious, but for
tools it is not.
Add a name for each test we run, and print it before starting the test.

At present the unicode filtering seems to get confused at times with
this error:
UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0x80 in position
32: ordinal not in range(128)
It seems to be due to self._nonprint being interpreted as UTF-8. Fix it
by using ordinals instead of characters, changing the string to set.

On my Ubuntu 18.04.1 machine two driver-model bus tests have started
failing recently. The problem appears to be that the DATA region of the
executable is protected. This does not seem correct, but perhaps there
is a reason.
To work around it, unprotect the regions in these tests before accessing
them.

After a test has failed, test/py drains the U-Boot console log to ensure
that any relevant output is captured. At this point, we don't care about
detecting any additional errors, since the test is already known to have
failed, and U-Boot will be restarted. To ensure that the test cleanup code
is not interrupted, and can correctly terminate the log sections for the
failed test, ignore any exception that occurs while reading the U-Boot
console output during this limited period of time.

Up to now the EFI_TEXT_INPUT_PROTOCOL only supported ASCII characters.
With the patch it can consume UTF-8 from the console.
Currently only the serial console and the console can deliver UTF-8.
Local consoles are restricted to ASCII.

In this commit, the same set of test cases as in test/fs/fs-test.sh
is provided using pytest framework.
Actually, fs-test.sh provides three variants:"sb" (sb command), "nonfs"
(fatxx and etc.) and "fs" (hostfs), and this patch currently supports
only "nonfs" variant; So it is not a replacement of fs-test.sh for now.
Simple usage:
$ py.test test/py/tests/test_fs [<other options>]
You may also specify filesystem types to be tested:
$ py.test test/py/tests/test_fs --fs-type fat32 [<other options>]

In int-ll64.h, we always use the following typedefs:
typedef unsigned int u32;
typedef unsigned long uintptr_t;
typedef unsigned long long u64;
This does not need to match to the compiler's <inttypes.h>.
Do not include it.
The use of PRI* makes the code super-ugly. You can simply use
"l" for printing uintptr_t, "ll" for u64, and no modifier for u32.

You do not need to use the typedefs provided by compiler.
Our compilers are either IPL32 or LP64. Hence, U-Boot can/should
always use int-ll64.h typedefs like Linux kernel, whatever the
typedefs the compiler internally uses.

In some cases it can be useful to be able to bind a device to a driver from
the command line.
The obvious example is for versatile devices such as USB gadget.
Another use case is when the devices are not yet ready at startup and
require some setup before the drivers are bound (ex: FPGA which bitsream is
fetched from a mass storage or ethernet)

So far there is only one PCI host controller in the sandbox test
configuration. This is normally the case for x86, but it can be
common on other architectures like ARM/PPC to have more than one
PCI host controller in the system.
This updates the case to cover such scenario.

Given 0dc1bfb730 ("fs: fat: cannot write to subdirectories") we have
changed how the FAT code works from creating the illegal file "./file"
and instead rejecting the path. The correct behavior would be to write
"file" to "." but not writing an illegal file is a step in the right
direction. For now, update the expected output to account for the
failure.

While using the 'tpm' command should work on most cases, this test suite
only works with TPMv2 and since the work to make both versions build at
the same time, we might end up having both 'tpm' (TPMv1) and 'tpm2'
(TPMv2) commands available at the same time. Ensure this test suite
always use the right one.

This tests that the importing of an environment with a specified
whitelist works as intended.
If there are variables passed as parameter to the env import command,
those only should be imported in the current environment.
For each variable passed as parameter, if
- foo is bar in current env and bar2 in exported env, after importing
exported env, foo shall be bar2,
- foo does not exist in current env and foo is bar2 in exported env,
after importing exported env, foo shall be bar2,
- foo is bar in current env and does not exist in exported env (but is
passed as parameter), after importing exported env, foo shall be empty
ONLY if the -d option is passed to env import, otherwise foo shall be
bar,
Any variable not passed as parameter should be left untouched.
Two other tests are made to test that size cannot be '-' if the checksum
protection is enabled.

Some functions test that the given address is not NULL (0) and fail or
have a different behaviour if that's the case (e.g. hexport_r).
Let's make the RAM base address to be not zero by setting it to 2MiB if
that's the case.
2MiB is chosen because it represents the size of an ARM LPAE/v8 section.

This adds a new config value FIT_SIGNATURE_MAX_SIZE, which controls the
max size of a FIT header's totalsize field. The field is checked before
signature checks are applied to protect from reading past the intended
FIT regions.
This field is not part of the vboot signature so it should be sanity
checked. If the field is corrupted then the structure or string region
reads may have unintended behavior, such as reading from device memory.
A default value of 256MB is set and intended to support most max storage
sizes.

The openssl command specified in test_with_algo() ultimately ends up
being run by RunAndLog::run(), which uses it to construct a Popen object
with the default shell=False. The stderr redirect in the command is
therefore simply passed to openssl as an argument. With at least openssl
1.1.0f this causes openssl, and therefore test_vboot, to fail with:
genpkey: Use -help for summary.
Exit code: 1
Any stderr output ought to be captured & stored in the RunAndLog
object's output field and returned from run() via run_and_log() to
test_with_algo() which then ignores it anyway, so we can drop the
shell-like redirection with no ill effects. With this fix test_vboot now
passes for me.

which works on both python 2.x & 3.x, and is described as the preferred
method of opening a file by python 2.x documentation anyway.

The read_file() function in test_fit is used with files that are not
text files, as well as some that are. It is never used in a way that
requires it to decode text files to characters, so open all files in
binary mode such that read() doesn't attempt to decode characters for
files which are not text files.
Without this test_fit fails on python 3.x when reading an FDT in
run_fit_test() with:
UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xd0 in position
0: invalid continuation byte

In python 3.x the configparser module is named with all lower case.
Import it as such in order to avoid errors when running on python 3.x,
and fall back to the CamelCase version in order to keep working with
python 2.x.

In python 3.x the xrange() function has been removed, and range()
returns an iterator much like Python 2.x's xrange(). Simply use range()
in place of xrange() in order to work on both python 2.x & 3.x. This
will mean a small cost on python 2.x since range() will return a list
there rather than an iterator, but the cost should be negligible.

Added a simple ls to a nonexistent directory for test 1.
In case the driver is broken for a nonexistent directory, U-boot
might crash.

Putting zero length array at the end of struct is a common technique
to embed arbitrary length of members. There is no good reason to let
regmap_alloc_count() branch by "if (count <= 1)".
As far as I understood the code, regmap->base is an alias of
regmap->ranges[0].start, but it is not helpful but make the code
just ugly.
Rename regmap_alloc_count() to regmap_alloc() because the _count
suffix seems pointless.

When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.
In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.
This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared
license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag
contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag
and have introduced one.

This patch adds the bulk reset API tests for the sandbox test suite.
Unlike the main test, it also check the "other" reset signal using the bulk API
and checks if the resets are correctly asserted/deasserted.
To allow the bulk API to work, and avoid changing the DT, the number of resets
of the sandbox reset controller has been bumped to 101 for the "other" reset
line to be valid.

The unit test checks if a device tree is installed. It requires that the
'compatible' property of the root node exists. If available it prints the
'serial-number' property.
The serial-number property is derived from the environment variable
'serial#'. This can be used to check if the image_setup_libfdt() function
is executed.
A Python test is supplied. It sets a value for serial# and checks that the
selftest shows this as serial-number.

Commit 286ede6 ("drivers: core: Add translation in live tree case") made
dev_get_addr always use proper bus translations for addresses read from
the device tree. But this leads to problems with certain busses, e.g.
I2C busses, which run into an error during translation, and hence stop
working.
It turns out that of_translate_address() and fdt_translate_address()
stop the address translation with an error when they're asked to
translate addresses for busses where #size-cells == 0 (comment from
drivers/core/of_addr.c):
* Note: We consider that crossing any level with #size-cells == 0 to mean
* that translation is impossible (that is we are not dealing with a value
* that can be mapped to a cpu physical address). This is not really specified
* that way, but this is traditionally the way IBM at least do things
To fix this case, we check in both the live-tree and non-live tree-case,
whether the bus of the device whose address is about to be translated
has size-cell size zero. If this is the case, we just read the address
as a plain integer and return it, and only apply bus translations if the
size-cell size if greater than zero.

Currently, if a test emits a warning message but otherwise passes, there's
no indication of this in the log summary, which can lead to warnings being
missed. Enhance the test logic to explicitly mention warnings in otherwise
passing tests, and not to collapse the log sections for tests with
warnings, so that they're more easily seen when scanning the log.

Each uclass has a driver name which we can use to look up the uclass. This
is useful for logging, where the uclass ID is used as the category.

When printing '%pD' with a value of NULL we want to output
'<NULL>'. But this requires copying to buf. Leave this
to string16.
A unit test is supplied which relies on EFI support in the sandbox.
The development for EFI support in the sandbox is currently in branch
u-boot-dm/efi-working. The branch lacks commit 6ea8b580f0 ("efi_loader:
correct DeviceNodeToText for media types"). Ater rebasing the aforementioned
branch on U-Boot v2018.01 and adding 256060e425 and this patch the test
is executed successfully.

For debugging efi_loader we need the capability to print EFI
device paths. With this patch we can write:

A possible output would be

This enhancement is not available when building without EFI support
and neither in the SPL nor in the API example.
A test is provided. It can be executed in the sandbox with command
ut_print.
The development for EFI support in the sandbox is currently in

commit 6ea8b580f0 ("efi_loader: correct DeviceNodeToText
for media types"). Ater rebasing the aforementioned branch on

encourage it to stay that way, run the code-coverage test as part of the
normal U-Boot tests.

This patch extends pmic_bind_children prefix matching. In addition to
the node name the property regulator-name is used while trying to match
prefixes. This allows assigning different drivers to regulator nodes
named regulator@1 and regulator@10 for example.
I have discarded the idea of using other properties then regulator-name
as I do not see any benefit in using property compatible or even
regulator-compatible. Of course I am open to change this if there are
good reasons to do so.

Some QEMUs have a problem with time setup that's why
sleep test is failing. Introduce env__sleep_accurate
