CONFIG_CMD_ZIP is not defined by any board. I am moving
CONFIG_CMD_UNZIP to defconfig files except UniPhier SoC family.
I am the maintainer of UniPhier platform, so I know "select CMD_UNZIP"
is better for this platform.

Now, CONFIG_GENERIC_MMC seems equivalent to CONFIG_MMC.
Let's create an entry for "config GENERIC_MMC" with "default MMC",
then convert all macro defines in headers to Kconfig. Almost all
of the defines will go away.
I see only two exceptions:
configs/blanche_defconfig
configs/sandbox_noblk_defconfig
They define CONFIG_GENERIC_MMC, but not CONFIG_MMC. Something
might be wrong with these two boards, so should be checked later.
Anyway, this is the output of the moveconfig tool.

Currently, SPL (u-boot-spl.bin) and U-Boot (u-boot.bin) are stored
in non-volatile devices, and some environments are defined to update
the images easily.
When ARM Trusted Firmware is fully used, SPL is not used. U-Boot
proper is contained as BL33 into FIP (Firmware Image Package), which
is standard container used by ATF. Allow to use it.

The Boot ROM supports authentication feature to prevent malformed
software from being run on products. The signature is added at the
tail of the second stage loader (= SPL in U-boot terminology).
The size of the second stage loader was 64KB, and it was consistent
across SoCs. The situation changed when LD20 SoC appeared; it loads
80KB second stage loader, and it is the only exception.
Currently, CONFIG_SPL_PAD_TO is set to 64KB and U-Boot proper is
loaded from the 64KB offset of non-volatile devices. This means the
signature of LD20 SoC (located at 80KB offset) corrupts the U-Boot
proper image.
Let's move the U-Boot proper image to 128KB offset. It uses 48KB
for nothing but padding, and we could actually locate the U-Boot
proper at 80KB offset. However, the power of 2 generally seems a
better choice for the offset address.

When ARM Trusted Firmware is used, bl1.bin + fip.bin exceeds 512KB,
so the boot image and the current environment area will overlap.
Move the environment storage to 1MB offset.

The boot_ramdisk_high() checks the environment "initrd_high" and,
if it is set to (ulong)-1, skip the initrd relocation. This is
useful for faster booting when we know the initrd is already located
within the reach of the kernel.
Change "norboot" to copy images in order to make it work without
depending on the automatic relocation.

The ARM64 Linux raw image now amounts to 15MB and it is getting
bigger and bigger. Using Image.gz saves about 8MB. The cost of
unzip is smaller than what we get by saving the kernel loading
from non-volatile devices.
The ARM32 Linux still uses zImage, a self-decompressor image,
so it should not be affected.

For clarification, move CONFIG symbols that affect SPL building
into a single place. Drop #ifdef CONFIG_SPL ... #endif since it is

U-Boot needs to set up available memory area(s) in dram_init() and
dram_init_banksize(). It is platform-dependent how to detect the
memory banks. Currently, UniPhier adopts the memory banks _alleged_
by DT. This is based on the assumption that users bind a correct DT
in their build process.
Come to think of it, the DRAM controller has already been set up
before U-Boot is entered (because U-Boot runs on DRAM). So, the
DRAM controller setup register seems a more reliable source of any
information about DRAM stuff. The DRAM banks are initialized by
preliminary firmware (SPL, ARM Trusted Firmware BL2, or whatever),
so this means the source of the reliability is shifted from Device
Tree to such early-stage firmware. However, if the DRAM controller
is wrongly configured, the system will crash. If your system is
running, the DRAM setup register is very likely to provide the
correct DRAM mapping.
Decode the SG_MEMCONF register to get the available DRAM banks.
The dram_init() and dram_init_banksize() need similar decoding.
It would be nice if dram_init_banksize() could reuse the outcome
of dram_init(), but global variables are unavailable at this stage
because the .bss section is available only after the relocation.
As a result, SG_MEMCONF must be checked twice, but a new helper
uniphier_memconf_decode() will help to avoid code duplication.

We may want to run different firmware before running U-Boot. For
example, ARM Trusted Firmware runs before U-Boot, making U-Boot
a non-secure world boot loader. In this case, the SoC might be
initialized there, which enables us to skip SPL entirely.
This commit removes "select SPL" to make it configurable. This
also enables the Multi SoC support for the UniPhier ARMv8 SoCs.
(CONFIG_ARCH_UNIPHIER_V8_MULTI) Thanks to the driver model and
Device Tree, the U-Boot proper part is now written in a generic way.
The board/SoC parameters reside in DT. The Multi SoC support
increases the memory footprint a bit, but the U-Boot proper does
not have strict memory constraint. This will mitigate the per-SoC
(sometimes per-board) defconfig burden.

The only use case I see is the Micro Support Card is connected.

Currently, the UniPhier platform calls several init functions in the
following order:
[1] spl_board_init()
[2] board_early_init_f()
[3] board_init()
[4] board_early_init_r()
[5] board_late_init()
The serial console is not ready at the point of [2], so we want to
avoid using [2] from the view point of debuggability. Fortunately,
all of the initialization in [2] can be delayed until [3]. I see no
good reason to split into [3] and [4]. So, merge [2] through [4].

Move this option to Kconfig and set its default value to 4; this
increases the number of supported CPUs for some boards.
It consumes 1KB memory per CPU for PSCI stack, but it should not
be a big deal, given the amount of memory used for the modern OSes.

This supports the system reset via PSCI for ARMv7 SoCs.
Because the system reset is not supported on PSCI 0.1, let's define
CONFIG_ARMV7_PSCI_1_0. (it is supported since PSCI 0.2, but there
is no CONFIG to enable it in U-Boot for now.)

This series moves the CONFIG_SYS_CACHELINE_SIZE. First, in nearly all
cases we are mirroring the values used by the Linux Kernel here. Also,
so long as (and in this case, it is true) we implement flushes in hunks
that are no larger than the smallest implementation (and given that we
mirror the Linux Kernel, again we are fine) it is OK to align higher.
The biggest changes here are that we always use 64 bytes for CPU_V7 even
if for example the underlying core is only 32 bytes (this mirrors
Linux). Second, we say ARM64 uses 64 bytes not 128 (as found in the
Linux Kernel) as we do not need multi-platform support (to this degree)
and only the Cavium ThunderX 88xx series has a use for such large
alignment.

As the help message of CONFIG_BOOTDELAY says, CONFIG_BOOTDELAY=-2
means the autoboot with no delay, with no abort check even if
CONFIG_ZERO_BOOTDELAY_CHECK is defined.
To sum up, the autoboot behaves as follows:

At first, 256 byte of the head of DRAM space was reserved for some
reasons. However, as the progress of development, it turned out
unnecessary, and it was never used in the end. Move the CPU release
address to leave no space.

The Boot ROM on PH1-LD11/LD20 exports built-in APIs to load images
from an eMMC device. They are useful to reduce the memory footprint
of SPL, rather than compiling the whole MMC framework.

I no longer see the problem claimed in the comment block. Rather,
the 0.5 msec timeout seems too short for some TFTP servers.
Drop the CONFIG_ARM_TIMEOUT to fall back to the 5 sec timeout.

Commit d085ecd61b ("ARM: uniphier: switch to raw U-Boot image")
claimed that u-boot-with-spl.bin would be useful in its commit log,
but it was not available because the commit missed to define
CONFIG_SPL_MAX_SIZE. Without it, CONFIG_SPL_PAD_TO is not defined
either (see include/config_fallbacks.h). So, the SPL image is not
padded correctly.

Now everything is done to load a raw U-Boot proper image instead of
an mkimage-processed one (as far as I tested on NAND, eMMC, NOR).
The SPL already knows the load address of the U-Boot proper without
parsing its uImage header because the load address is defined by
CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE, assuming that the two images are generated from
the same build.
My main motivation of this switch is to use u-boot-with-spl.bin, a
concatenation of u-boot-spl.bin and u-boot.bin. (I wish there were
a concatenation of u-boot-spl.bin and u-boot.img...) Anyway, this
commit would be useful for one-shot image burn.

The current CONFIG names like "CONFIG_ARCH_UNIPHIER_PH1_PRO4" is too
long. It would not hurt to drop "PH1_" because "UNIPHIER_" already
well specifies the SoC family. Also, rename files for consistency.

This TODO is no longer useful. CONFIG_SYS_NS16550_SERIAL is just
ignored on DM serial.
If one wants to use the 16550A UART device on the UniPhier Micro
Support Card, it can be enabled by CONFIG_SYS_NS16550 via Kconfig.
Please notice CONFIG_SPL_OF_TRANSLATE must be enabled as well and
the device tree must be treaked in order to use the NS16550 serial
on SPL.

The Boot ROM expects the boot image (SPL) in the Boot Partition 1.
So, updating images involves the hardware partition switch. It might
be a bit advanced for some users.
To be user-friendly, this commit adds a useful command to update the
images; just put SPL and U-Boot proper into the public directory of
the TFTP server and execute "run emmcupdate" from the command line.

This environment define has been here to work around the LMB
allocation error introduced by commit 9c11135ce0 ("image: fix

No special reason for the current stack address 0x0ff08000.
Change it to 0x00100000 to simplify the init_page_table.
There are two types of SoCs in terms of the load address of SPL.
[1] PH1-sLD3, PH1-LD4, PH1-sLD8
SPL is loaded at 0x00040000-0x0004ffff
[2] PH1-Pro4, PH1-Pro5, ProXstream2, PH1-LD6b
SPL is loaded at 0x00100000-0x0010ffff
The new stack area (0x000f8000-0x00100000) should be safe for all the
cases.

Since commit ad1ecd2063 ("fdt: Build a U-Boot binary without device
tree") and commit 03c25bcd26 ("fdt: Build an SPL binary without
device tree"), we can use shorter file names for the output images.
The default configuration for UniPhier SoCs enables CONFIG_OF_SEPARATE
and CONFIG_SPL_OF_CONTROL. In this case, spl/u-boot-spl.bin is the
same as spl/u-boot-spl-dtb.bin. Likewise, u-boot.img is the same as
as u-boot-dtb.img. So, this change of the flow has no impact.

The environment "bootm_low" is updated before the "bootz" command.
This is common for all the boot modes (NOR, NAND, TFTP, etc.), so

Commit 89835b3557 ("ARM: uniphier: allow to run zImage rather than
uImage") changed the kernel boot commands. Unlike "bootm", "bootz"
does not relocate the kernel image. When the boot device is a NOR
flash, the zImage should be copied from the NOR onto the DRAM before
it is passed to the "bootz" command.

The load address of the kernel can be changed via "kernel_addr_r"
environment. The device tree and the initramdisk should be relocated
according to the kernel location.
The "bootm_low" should be calculated by masking the lower bits
(TEXT_OFFSET part) of the "kernel_addr_r" environment value.

U-Boot relocates the device tree and the initramdisk to the tail
of the memory region before booting the kernel.
Some UniPhier boards are equipped with a large amount of memory.
For those boards, the device tree and the initramdisk are placed out
of the the kernel causing a kernel panic.
Add CONFIG_SYS_BOOTMAPSZ to prevent them from going too high.

UniPhier SoC family adopt ARM Multi-platform in Linux since the first
upstreaming. Because CONFIG_ARM_PATCH_PHYS_VIRT is defined, the
kernel image is completely position-independent. There is no reason
to decide the load address on compile time, but it is up to the boot
loader. Now, zImage is handier than uImage, also it allows to skip
the relocation of the kernel image.

We have finished Generic Board conversion for ARM and PowerPC, i.e.
all the boards have been converted except OpenRISC, SuperH, SPARC,
which have not supported Generic Board framework yet.
Select SYS_GENERIC_BOARD in arch/Kconfig and delete all the macro
defines in include/configs/*.h.

Before this commit, the Kconfig menu in mach-uniphier only allowed us
to choose one SoC to be compiled. Each SoC has its own defconfig file
for the build-test coverage. Consequently, some defconfig files are
duplicated with only the difference in CONFIG_DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE and
CONFIG_{SOC_NAME}=y.
Now, most of board-specific parameters have been moved to device trees,
so it makes sense to include init code of multiple SoCs into a single
image as long as the SoCs have similar architecture. In fact, some
SoCs of UniPhier family are very similar:
- PH1-LD4 and PH1-sLD8
- PH1-LD6b and ProXstream2 (will be added in the upcoming commit)
This commit will be helpful to merge some defconfig files for better
maintainability.

Currently, console=ttyS0 is hard-coded in CONFIG_EXTRA_ENV_SETTINGS
and it replaces the bootargs in the chosen node of the device tree
passed to the kernel. This is not preferable because I am going to
add some boards whose console is not ttyS0.
Drop bootargs settings from U-Boot's environment and use the one in
device tree by default.

In UniPhier SoCs before ProXstream2 and PH1-LD6b, two address spaces
0x00000000 - 0x0fffffff
0x40000000 - 0x4fffffff
are both mapped to the external bus (also called system bus),
so either was OK.
In the newest two SoCs, the former (0x00000000 - 0x0fffffff) is
assigned for the serial NOR interface.
Going forward, use the latter for the external bus.

Historically (for compatibility with very old platforms), two
different types of micro support cards have been used with the
UniPhier SoC development boards. It has been painful to maintain
both. Having one of them is enough.

Device Tree really improves code maintainability and is now
available for SPL too.
This is the state-of-the-art implementation in U-boot.
The board files (platform data) are no longer needed.

Currently, the environment variables "norboot" and "nandboot" only
work with CONFIG_FIT, but we do not want to depend on CONFIG_FIT to
boot the kernel.
This commit adds environments useful for booting Linux with separate
uImage + ramdisk + DTB.

Since commit 92ac520821 (net: Remove all references to
CONFIG_ETHADDR and friends), the ethernet device on UniPhier boards
is not working because of the incorrect (all-zero) MAC address.
Enable CONFIG_NET_RANDOM_ETHADDR to generate the random one.

We really don't want boards defining fixed MAC addresses in their config
so we just remove the option to set it in a fixed way. If you must have
a MAC address that was not provisioned, then use the random MAC address
functionality.
