Some of the DM functions depend on OF_CONTROL, which is incorrect.
DM and DT are orthogonal. Add macro guards around such functions to
avoid compiling them in when DM is enabled, while OF_CONTROL is not.

Several options are presenting themselves on a various boards
where the options are clearly not used. (ie, SPL/TPL options
when SPL or TPL are not defined)
This patch is not attempting to be a complete list of items, but
more like low hanging fruit. In some instances, I wasn't sure
of DM was required, so I simply made them SPL or TPL.
This patch attempts to reduce some of the menuconfig noise
by defining dependencies so they don't appear when not used.

In some case with LIVE DT, some node always not valid, or not have
a valid name, eg. blk driver add by mmc.
Return fail instead of Assert for this kind of ofnode, and this
help with assert happen from time to time when of_live is enabled
and DEBUG is enabled.

Current dev_read_*() API lacks support to get address and size
of a "reg" property by name or index. Add support for the same.
Livetree support has been added but not tested on real hardware.
The existing unit tests testing reading address from device-tree
have been updated to test address as well as size.

Add the following functions to translate DMA address to CPU address:
- dev_translate_dma_address()
- ofnode_translate_dma_address()
- of_translate_dma_address()
- fdt_translate_dma_address()
These functions work the same way as xxx_translate_address(), with the
difference that the translation relies on the "dma-ranges" property
instead of the "ranges" property.

This uclass is intended for devices that do not need any features from the
uclass, including binding children.
This will typically be used by devices that are used to bind child devices
but do not use dm_scan_fdt_dev() to do it. That is for example the case of
several USB wrappers that have 2 child devices (1 for device and 1 for
host) but bind only one at a any given time.

It was returning an int, which doesn't work if the u32 it is reading,
or the default value, will overflow a signed int.
While it could be made to work, when using a C standard/compiler where
casting negative signed values to unsigned has a defined behavior,
combined with careful casting, it seems obvious one is meant to use
ofnode_read_s32_default() with signed values.

Testing has shown that the current DM implementation of a platform /
board specific translation offset, as its needed for the SPL on MVEBU
platforms is buggy. The translation offset is confingured too late,
after the driver bind functions are run. This may result in incorrect
address translations. With the current implementation its not possible
to configure the offset earlier, as the DM code has not run at all.
This patch now removed the set_/get_translation_offset() calls and
moves the translation offset into the GD variable translation_offset.
This variable will get used when CONFIG_TRANSLATION_OFFSET is enabled.
This option is enabled only for MVEBU on ARM32 platforms, where its
currenty needed and configured in the SPL.

Boards such as qemu-riscv, which receive their device tree at runtime,
for example from QEMU or firmware, are unable to add the appropriate
device tree properties to make devices available pre relocation.
Instead, they must rely on the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag to be set for the
required drivers.
Add the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag to the simple-bus driver to make devices
under it with drivers that have set the flag as well available pre
relocation for these boards.

v2019.04-rc3 sandbox U-Boot fails to boot when compiled with
-fsanitize=address and linked against -lasan, reporting [1].
Git bisecting shows that the issue is contributed by v2019.01 commit
1678754f5e ("core: ofnode: Fix ofnode_get_addr_index function").
The root cause seems to be the mismatch between sizeof(u64) and
sizeof(fdt_size_t) on sandbox. Luckily, thanks to the fact that the
size argument of both of_get_address() and fdtdec_get_addr_size_fixed()
is optional, we can pass NULL in its place, avoiding the problem.

Change the function syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle()
introduced by commit 6c3af1f24e ("syscon: dm: Add a
new method to get a regmap from DTS") to have
Linux-compatible syscon API.
Same modification than commit e151a1c288 ("syscon: add
Linux-compatible syscon API") solves issue when the node
identified by the phandle has several compatibles and is
already bound to a dedicated driver.

We can remove the pre reloc property in SPL and TPL device-tree:
- u-boot,dm-pre-reloc
- u-boot,dm-spl
- u-boot,dm-tpl
As only the needed node are kept by fdtgrep (1st pass).
The associated function (XXX_pre_reloc) are simple for SPL/TPL:
return always true.

At present it is not possible to use the syscon devices for PCI devices
since a regmap is required. Since PCI uses a 3-cell address the conversion
of the 'reg' property to an address always fails. In any case, the regmap
is not useful with PCI since devices are accessed through the PCI bus
which regmap does not support.
Add a special case for PCI syscon devices, so that they don't set up a
regmap.

At present the 'Index' column assumes there is only one digit. But on some
devices (e.g. snow) there are a lot of regulators and GPIO banks. Adjust
the output to allow for two digits without messing up the display.
Also capatalise the heading to match.

The current dev_read...() functions use s32 and u32 which are convenient
for device tree but not so useful for normal code, which often wants to
use normal integers for values.
Add a helper which supports returning an unsigned int. Also add signed
versions of the unsigned readers.

To reset the DM after a new dtb is loaded, we need to call dm_uninit()
and then dm_init(). This fails however because gd->dm_root is not nullified
by dm_uninit().
Fixing it by setting gd->dm_root in dm_uninit().

It is currently not possible to include the support to remove devices in
the SPL. This is however needed by platforms that re-select their dtb after
DM is initialized; they need to remove all the previously bound devices
before triggering a scan of the new DT.
Add a Kconfig option to be able to include the support for device removal
in the SPL.

If OF_CONTROL is not enabled and DM_SEQ_ALIAS is enabled, we must
assign an alias (requested sequence number) to devices that belongs to a
class with the DM_UC_FLAG_SEQ_ALIAS flag. Otherwise
uclass_find_device_by_seq() cannot be used to get/probe a device. In
particular i2c_get_chip_for_busnum() cannot be used.

Some buses need to set up their child devices after they are probed.
Support a common child_post_probe() method for the uclass.
With this change, the two APIs uclass_pre_probe_device() and
uclass_post_probe_device() become symmetric.

It is useful to be able to treat the different ranges of a regmap
separately to be able to use distinct offset for them, but this is
currently not implemented in the regmap API.
To preserve backwards compatibility, add regmap_read_range and
regmap_write_range functions that take an additional parameter
'range_num' that identifies the range to operate on.

The regmap functions currently assume that all register map accesses
have a data width of 32 bits, but there are maps that have different
widths.
To rectify this, implement the regmap_raw_read and regmap_raw_write
functions from the Linux kernel API that specify the width of a desired
read or write operation on a regmap.
Implement the regmap_read and regmap_write functions using these raw
functions in a backwards-compatible manner.

an error, which is not currently checked during regmap initialization.
Since the indentation depth is already quite deep, extract a new
'init_range' method to do the initialization.

ofnode_read_simple_addr_cells may fail and return a negative error code.
Check for this when initializing regmaps.
Also check if both_len is zero, since this is perfectly possible, and
would lead to a division-by-zero further down the line.

Commit f2006808f099: ("dm: core: parse chosen node") added a logic
to parse the chosen node during dm_scan_fdt_node(), but unfortunately
it missed adding the same logic in dm_scan_fdt_live(). This mirrors
the logic in the livetree version.
The weird thing is that commit f2006808f0 did update the test case
to test such logic, but even if I reset to that commit, the test case
still fails, and I have no idea how it could pass.
With this fix, the following 2 test cases now pass:

Currently the comments of several APIs (eg: dm_init_and_scan()) say:
@pre_reloc_only: If true, bind only drivers with the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC
flag. If false bind all drivers.
The 'Pre-Relocation Support' chapter in doc/driver-model/README.txt
documents the same that both device tree properties and driver flag
are supported.
However the implementation only checks these special device tree
properties without checking the driver flag at all. This updates
lists_bind_fdt() to consider both scenarios.

At present it is not possible to specify that a node should be used before
relocation (in U-Boot proper) without it also ending up in SPL and TPL
device trees. Add a new "u-boot,dm-pre-proper" boolean property for this.

At present ofnode_read_fmap_entry() reads a flash map entry in a format
which is not supported by binman. To allow use to use binman-format
descriptions, update this function.
Also add a simple test.

All Linux firmware drivers are put under "/firmware" node
and it has support to populate "/firmware" node by default.
u-boot and Linux can share same DTB. In this case, driver
probe for devices under "/firmware" will not be invoked
as "/firmware" does not have its own "compatible" property.
This patch scans "/firmware" node by default like "/clocks".

The syscon implementation in U-Boot is different from that in Linux.
Thus, DT files imported from Linux do not work for U-Boot.
In U-Boot driver model, each node is bound to a dedicated driver
that is the most compatible to it. This design gets along with the
concept of DT, and the syscon in Linux originally worked like that.
However, Linux commit bdb0066df96e ("mfd: syscon: Decouple syscon
interface from platform devices") changed the behavior because it is
useful to let a device bind to another driver, but still work as a
syscon provider.
That change had happened before U-Boot initially supported the syscon
driver by commit 6f98b7504f ("dm: Add support for generic system
controllers (syscon)"). So, the U-Boot's syscon works differently
from the beginning. I'd say this is mis-implementation given that
DT is not oriented to a particular project, but Linux is the canon
of DT in practice.
The problem typically arises in the combination of "syscon" and
"simple-mfd" compatibles.
In Linux, they are orthogonal, i.e., the order between "syscon" and
"simple-mfd" does not matter at all.
Assume the following compatible.
compatible = "foo,bar-syscon", "syscon", "simple-mfd";
In U-Boot, this device node is bound to the syscon driver
(driver/core/syscon-uclass.c) since the "syscon" is found to be the
most compatible. Then, syscon_get_regmap() succeeds.
However,
compatible = "foo,bar-syscon", "simple-mfd", "syscon";
does not work because this node is bound to the simple-bus driver
(drivers/core/simple-bus.c) in favor of "simple-mfd" compatible.
The compatible string "syscon" is just dismissed.
Moreover,
compatible = "foo,bar-syscon", "syscon";
works like the first case because the syscon driver populates the
child devices. This is wrong because populating children is the job
of "simple-mfd" (or "simple-bus").
This commit ports syscon_node_to_regmap() from Linux. This API
does not require the given node to be bound to a driver in any way.

Currently, regmap_init_mem() takes a udevice. This requires the node
has already been associated with a device. It prevents syscon/regmap
from behaving like those in Linux.

Putting zero length array at the end of struct is a common technique
to embed arbitrary length of members. There is no good reason to let
regmap_alloc_count() branch by "if (count <= 1)".
As far as I understood the code, regmap->base is an alias of
regmap->ranges[0].start, but it is not helpful but make the code
just ugly.
Rename regmap_alloc_count() to regmap_alloc() because the _count
suffix seems pointless.

When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.
In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.
This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared
license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag
contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag
and have introduced one.

Commit 286ede6 ("drivers: core: Add translation in live tree case") made
dev_get_addr always use proper bus translations for addresses read from
the device tree. But this leads to problems with certain busses, e.g.
I2C busses, which run into an error during translation, and hence stop
working.
It turns out that of_translate_address() and fdt_translate_address()
stop the address translation with an error when they're asked to
translate addresses for busses where #size-cells == 0 (comment from
drivers/core/of_addr.c):
* Note: We consider that crossing any level with #size-cells == 0 to mean
* that translation is impossible (that is we are not dealing with a value
* that can be mapped to a cpu physical address). This is not really specified
* that way, but this is traditionally the way IBM at least do things
To fix this case, we check in both the live-tree and non-live tree-case,
whether the bus of the device whose address is about to be translated
has size-cell size zero. If this is the case, we just read the address
as a plain integer and return it, and only apply bus translations if the
size-cell size if greater than zero.

Each uclass has a driver name which we can use to look up the uclass. This
is useful for logging, where the uclass ID is used as the category.
Add a function to handle this, as well as a test.

Linux uses the properties 'assigned-clocks', 'assigned-clock-parents'
and 'assigned-clock-rates' to configure the clock subsystem for use
with various peripheral nodes.
This implements clk_set_defaults() and hooks it up with the general
device probibin in drivers/core/device.c: when a new device is probed,
clk_set_defaults() will be called for it and will process the
properties mentioned above.
Note that this functionality is designed to fail gracefully (i.e. if a
clock-driver does not implement set_parent(), we simply accept this
and ignore the error) as not to break existing board-support.

For various peripherals on Rockchip SoCs (e.g. for the Ethernet GMAC),
the parent-clock needs to be set via the DTS. This adds the required
plumbing and implements the GMAC case for the RK3399.

dev_read_u32_default() always returns something even when the property
is missing. So, it is impossible to do nothing in the case. One
solution is to use ofnode_read_u32() instead, but adding dev_read_u32()
will be helpful.
BTW, Linux has an equvalent function, device_property_read_u32();
it is clearer that it reads a property. I cannot understand the
behavior of dev_read_u32() from its name.

The function dev_read_addr calls ofnode_get_addr_index in the live tree
case, which does not apply bus translations to the address read from the
device tree. This results in illegal addresses on boards that rely on
bus translations being applied.
Fix this situation by applying bus translations in the live tree case as
well.

The livetree codepath of ofnode_get_addr_size always used the "reg"
property for of_get_property. Use the property parameter of the function
call instead and check the return value if the property exists.
Otherwise return FDT_ADDR_T_NONE.
This was discoverd while using SPI NOR with livetree.
spi_flash_decode_fdt checks for memory-map and will not fail with
livetree even if the property does not exist.

The size variable may not be always be a mulitple of
ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN and using it to flush cache leads to cache
misaligned warnings.
Therefore, round up the size to a multiple of ARCH_DMA_MINLAIGN
when allocating private data.

As we discussed before in ML, dm_dbg() causes undefined reference
error if #define DEBUG is added to users, but not drivers/core/util.c
We do not need this macro because we can use pr_debug() instead, and
it is pretty easy to enable it for the DM core by using ccflags-y.

When using 32-bit addresses dtoc works correctly. For 64-bit addresses it
does not since it ignores the #address-cells and #size-cells properties.
Update the tool to use fdt64_t as the element type for reg properties when
either the address or size is larger than one cell. Use the correct value
so that C code can obtain the information from the device tree easily.
Alos create a new type, fdt_val_t, which is defined to either fdt32_t or
fdt64_t depending on the word size of the machine. This type corresponds
to fdt_addr_t and fdt_size_t. Unfortunately we cannot just use those types
since they are defined to phys_addr_t and phys_size_t which use
'unsigned long' in the 32-bit case, rather than 'unsigned int'.
Add tests for the four combinations of address and size values (32/32,
64/64, 32/64, 64/32). Also update existing uses for rk3399 and rk3368
which now need to use the new fdt_val_t type.

Currently, all fixed-clock declared in "clocks" node in device tree
can be binded by clk_fixed_rate.c driver only if each of them have
the "simple-bus" compatible string.
This constraint has been invoked here [1].
This patch offers a solution to avoid adding "simple-bus" compatible
string to nodes that are not busses.

This function is usefull to get phandle number contained
in a property list.
For example, this allows to allocate the right amount
of memory to keep clock's reference contained into the
"clocks" property.
To implement it, either of_count_phandle_with_args() or
fdtdec_parse_phandle_with_args() are used respectively
for live tree and flat tree.
By passing index = -1, these 2 functions returns the
number of phandle contained into the property list.
Add also the dev_count_phandle_with_args() based on
ofnode_count_phandle_with_args()

Some platforms have very limited SRAM to run SPL code, so there may
not be the same amount space for a malloc pool before relocation in
the SPL stage as the normal U-Boot stage.
Make SPL and (the full) U-Boot stage use independent SYS_MALLOC_F_LEN,
so the size of pre-relocation malloc pool can be configured memory
space independently.

DTB is encoded in big endian. When we retrieve property values,
we need to use fdt32_to_cpu (aka be32_to_cpu) for endian conversion.
This is a bit error-prone, but sparse is useful to detect endian
mismatch.
We need to use (fdt32_t *) instead of (u32 *) for a pointer of a
property value. Otherwise sparse warns "cast to restricted __be32".

This function returns the pointer to the value of a node property.
The current name ofnode_read_prop() is confusing. Follow the naming
of_get_property() from Linux.
The return type (const u32 *) is wrong. DT property values can be
strings as well as integers. This is why of_get_property/fdt_getprop
returns an opaque pointer.

The of_n_addr_cells() and of_n_size_cells() functions are useful for
getting the size of addresses in a node, but in a few places U-Boot needs
to obtain the actual property value for a node without walking up the
stack. Add functions for this and just the existing code to use it.
Add a comment to the existing ofnode functions which do not do the right
thing with a flat tree.
This fixes a problem reading PCI addresses.

This function allows a device's status to be read. This indicates whether
the device should be enabled or disabled.
Note: In normal operation disabled devices will not be present in the
driver-model tree.

Add a function which reads resources from a device, such as the device
hardware address. This uses the "reg" property in the device.
Unlike other functions there is little sense in inlining this when
livetree is not being used because it has some logic in it and this would
just bloat the code size.

Sometimes it is useful to iterate through all devices in a uclass and
skip over those which do not work correctly (e.g fail to probe). Add two
new functions to provide this feature.
The caller must check the return value each time to make sure that the
device is valid. But the device pointer is always returned.

Add some definitions and helpers for livetree in the main of.h header
file. These include:
- reading multi-cell integers
- default number of address/size cells
- functions for comparing names
