If many values differ from the defaults, overriding the full table
is simpler and more space efficient than tweaking it through
mxs_adjust_memory_params().

When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and
there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the
area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it
with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the
Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first
line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line)
and with slightly different comment styles than us.
In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility
and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style.
This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared
license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag
contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag
and have introduced one.

This allows using the full SPL framework on mxs devices. In this
mode, the u-boot.sb image loaded by the boot ROM contains only the
SPL which then loads U-Boot proper or a kernel in falcon mode.

For some board designs, it might be useful to switch the DC-DC
clock source to something else rather the default 24 MHz, e.g.
for EMI reasons.
For this, override the mxs_power_setup_dcdc_clocksource function
in your board support files.

At the moment, the desired brownout is at 1.0V. However,
this setting cannot be realized by hardware since we have
only 3 bits to represent the voltage difference from the
target value.
Target value is 1500 mV, brownout target is 1000 mV,
voltage steps are 25 mV.
Register content calculation:
(1500 [mV] - 1000 [mV]) / 25 [mV] = 20 (decimal) = 0x14
Register takes only 3 bits, that is 0x4.
But 0x4 * 25 [mV] = 100 [mV], that means that actual
brownout level is 1500 [mV] - 100 [mV] = 1.4 V.
Minimum possible BO level is
1500 [mV] - 0x7 * 25 [mV] = 1315 [mV].
So lets use this value as desired BO value (which is
also the same as FSL bootlets use).

The semantics for non-static functions declared inline have changed in
gcc5, causing the empty functions not to be emitted as an external
symbol.
Since lowlevel_init() is only referenced from start.S, it should not be

In case the DC-DC is already enabled mxs_enable_4p2_dcdc_input() returns

Reading the boot mode pins after power-up does not necessarily represent the
boot mode used by the ROM loader. For example the state of a pin may have
changed because a recovery switch which was pressed to enter USB mode is
already released after plugging in USB.
The ROM loader stores the value a fixed address in OCRAM. Use this value
instead of reading the boot map pins.
The GLOBAL_BOOT_MODE_ADDR for i.MX28 is taken from an U-Boot patch for the
MX28EVK:

Leave the boot mode detection for the i.MX23 untouched. Someone has to test
whether the i.MX ROM loader does also store the boot mode in OCRAM and if the

When booting in JTAG mode, there is no way to use soft break-points, and
no way of knowing when SPL has finished executing (so the user can issue
a 'halt' command to load u-boot.bin for example)
Add a debug output and simple loop to stop execution at the completion of
the SPL initialisation as a pseudo break-point when booting in JTAG mode

Section 4.1.2 of Freescale Application Note AN4199 describes the
configuration required to operate the mx28 from a 5V source without a
battery.
This patch changes the behaviour of the dropout control of the DC-DC
converter (refer to section 11.12.9 of the mx28 Application Processor
Reference Manual - Document Number: MCIMX28RM, Rev 2, 08/2013) to the
following:
- Always use 4P2 Linear Regulator if CONFIG_SYS_MXS_VDD5V_ONLY is defined
- Switch between 4P2 Linear Regulator and Battery, using whichever has
the highest voltage if CONFIG_SYS_MXS_VDD5V_ONLY isnot set (this is
the same as the pre-patch behaviour)

It is difficult to track down fail to boot issues in the mxs SPL.
Implement the following to make it easier:
- Add debug outputs to allow tracing of SPL progress in order to track
where failure to boot occurs. DEUBUG and CONFIG_SPL_SERIAL_SUPPORT must
be defined to enable debug output in SPL
- Add TODO comments where it is not clear if the code is doing what it
is meant to be doing, even tough the board boots properly (these comments
refer to existing code, not to any code added by this patch)

The Linux-compatible macro DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST is a bit more flexible
and safer than DIV_ROUND.
For example,
foo = DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST(x, y++)
works expectedly, but
foo = DIV_ROUND(x, y++)
does not. (y is incremented twice.)

There are a number of places where U-Boot intentionally and legally
accesses physical address 0x0000, for example when installing
exception vectors on systems where these are located in low memory.
Add "cppcheck-suppress nullPointer" comments to silence cppcheck
where this is intentional and legal.

According to i.MX23 datasheet Table 32-17, we must wait for the supply
to settle before disabling the current limiter. Indeed, not waiting a
little here causes the system to crash at times.

This patch adds the groundwork for generating signed BootStream, which
can be used by the HAB library in i.MX28. We are adding a new target,
u-boot-signed.sb , since the process for generating regular non-signed
BootStream is much easier. Moreover, the signed bootstream depends on
external _proprietary_ _binary-only_ tool from Freescale called 'cst',
which is available only under NDA.
To make things even uglier, the CST or HAB mandates a kind-of circular
dependency. The problem is, unlike the regular IVT, which is generated
by mxsimage, the IVT for signed boot must be generated by hand here due
to special demands of the CST. The U-Boot binary (or SPL binary) and IVT
are then signed by the CST as a one block. But here is the problem. The
size of the entire image (U-Boot, IVT, CST blocks) must be appended at
the end of IVT. But the size of the entire image is not known until the
CST has finished signing the U-Boot and IVT. We solve this by expecting
the CST block to be always 3904B (which it is in case two files, U-Boot
and the hand-made IVT, are signed in the CST block).

Add support for serial console into the i.MX23/i.MX28 SPL. A full,
uncrippled serial console support comes very helpful when debugging
various spectacular hardware bringup issues early in the process.
Because we do not use SPL framework, but have our own minimalistic
SPL, which is compatible with the i.MX23/i.MX28 BootROM, we do not
use preloader_console_init(), but instead use a similar function to
start the console. Nonetheless, to avoid blowing up the size of the
SPL binary, this support is enabled only if CONFIG_SPL_SERIAL_SUPPORT
is defined, which is disabled by default.

When using HAB, there are additional special requirements on the placement of
U-Boot and the U-Boot SPL in memory. To fullfill these, this patch moves the
U-Boot binary a little further from the begining of the DRAM, so the HAB CST
and IVT can be placed in front of the U-Boot binary. This is necessary, since
both the U-Boot and the IVT must be contained in single CST signature. To
make things worse, the IVT must be concatenated with one more entry at it's
end, that is the length of the entire CST signature, IVT and U-Boot binary
in memory. By placing the blocks in this order -- CST, IVT, U-Boot, we can
easily align them all and then produce the length field as needed.
As for the SPL, on i.MX23/i.MX28, the SPL size is limited to 32 KiB, thus
we place the IVT at 0x8000 offset, CST right past IVT and claim the size
is correct. The HAB library accepts this setup.
Finally, to make sure the vectoring in SPL still works even after moving
the SPL from 0x0 to 0x1000, we add a small function which copies the
vectoring code and tables to 0x0. This is fine, since the vectoring code
is position independent.

Current LDS files /DISCARD/ a lot of sections when linking ELF
files, causing diagnostic tools such as readelf or objdump to
produce partial output. Keep all section at link stage, filter
only at objcopy time so that .bin remains minimal.
