Mauro Carvalho Chehab 80bec14b4e media: dib8000: rewrite the init prbs logic
[ Upstream commit 8db11aebdb8f93f46a8513c22c9bd52fa23263aa ]

The logic at dib8000_get_init_prbs() has a few issues:

1. the tables used there has an extra unused value at the beginning;
2. the dprintk() message doesn't write the right value when
   transmission mode is not 8K;
3. the array overflow validation is done by the callers.

Rewrite the code to fix such issues.

This should also shut up those smatch warnings:

	drivers/media/dvb-frontends/dib8000.c:2125 dib8000_get_init_prbs() error: buffer overflow 'lut_prbs_8k' 14 <= 14
	drivers/media/dvb-frontends/dib8000.c:2129 dib8000_get_init_prbs() error: buffer overflow 'lut_prbs_2k' 14 <= 14
	drivers/media/dvb-frontends/dib8000.c:2131 dib8000_get_init_prbs() error: buffer overflow 'lut_prbs_4k' 14 <= 14

[ Upstream commit c6d822c56e7fd29e6fa1b1bb91b98f6a1e942b3c ]

The function sp8870_readreg returns a negative value when i2c_transfer
fails so properly check for this and return the error if it happens.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 2d5e27f0e0 Revert "media: dvb: Add check on sp8870_readreg"
[ Upstream commit 47e4ff06fa7f5ba4860543a2913bbd0c164640aa ]

This reverts commit 467a37fba9.

Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all
commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were
correct or not.

Upon review, this commit was found to be incorrect for the reasons
below, so it must be reverted. It will be fixed up "correctly" in a
later kernel change.

This commit is not properly checking for an error at all, so if a
read succeeds from this device, it will error out.

Colin Ian King abbe59ca91 media: tda10071: fix unsigned sign extension overflow
[ Upstream commit a7463e2dc698075132de9905b89f495df888bb79 ]

The shifting of buf[3] by 24 bits to the left will be promoted to
a 32 bit signed int and then sign-extended to an unsigned long. In
the unlikely event that the the top bit of buf[3] is set then all
then all the upper bits end up as also being set because of
the sign-extension and this affect the ev->post_bit_error sum.
Fix this by using the temporary u32 variable bit_error to avoid
the sign-extension promotion. This also removes the need to do the
computation twice.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 95c520690f media: don't do a 31 bit shift on a signed int
On 32-bits archs, a signed integer has 31 bits plus on extra
bit for signal. Due to that, touching the 32th bit with something
like:

	int bar = 1 << 31;

has an undefined behavior in C on 32 bit architectures, as it
touches the signal bit. This is warned by cppcheck.

Instead, force the numbers to be unsigned, in order to solve this
issue.

Sean Young c268e7adea media: dvb-frontends: use ida for pll number
KASAN: global-out-of-bounds Read in dvb_pll_attach

Syzbot reported global-out-of-bounds Read in dvb_pll_attach, while
accessing id[dvb_pll_devcount], because dvb_pll_devcount was 65,
that is more than size of 'id' which is DVB_PLL_MAX(64).

Rather than increasing dvb_pll_devcount every time, use ida so that
numbers are allocated correctly. This does mean that no more than
64 devices can be attached at the same time, but this is more than
sufficient.

Ezequiel Garcia 4fa4ef39e1 media: Clarify how menus are hidden by SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT
Some users have been having a hard time finding the hidden
menus. A typically case are camera sensor drivers
(e.g IMX219, OV5645, etc), which are common on embedded
platforms and not really "ancillary" devices.

The problem with MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT seems to be related
to the fact that it uses the "visible" syntax to hide
the menus.

This is not obvious and it normally takes some time to
figure out.

To fix the problem, add a comment on each of hidden menus,
which should clarify what option is causing menus to be hidden.

kmemdup is introduced to duplicate a region of memory in a neat way.
Rather than kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy, which the programmer needs to

Colin Ian King efe8b031d8 media: stv090x: fix double free on state object
There two callers of stv090x_setup_compound manage the allocation and
freeing if state there is an error condition from stv090x_setup_compound.
Currently function stv090x_setup_compound also frees the state object
too, leading to a double free in the callers of this function. Fix
this by removing the extraneous free in stv090x_setup_compound and just
leave the callers handle the allocation/free'ing.

Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz 2f39cce963 media: remove redundant 'default n' from Kconfig-s
'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.

Also since commit f467c5640c ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO
is not set' for visible symbols") the Kconfig behavior is the same
regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

    ...
    One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
    the following two definitions behave exactly the same:

        config FOO
                bool

        config FOO
                bool
                default n

    With this change, neither of these will generate a
    '# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
    That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
    redundant.

Stefan Agner 8169cf0a02 media: Kconfig: allow to select drivers if EMBEDDED
Embedded systems often connect to sensors or other multimedia
subdevices directly. Currently, to be able to select such a
subdevice (e.g. CONFIG_VIDEO_OV5640) disabling of the auto-
select config option is needed (CONFIG_MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT).

This is inconvenient as the ancillary drivers for a particular
device then need to be selected manually.

Allow to select drivers manually while keeping the auto-select
feature in case EXPERT (selected by EMBEDDED) is enabled.
