Hui Wang 6fc2850259 ALSA: hda/realtek: Headphone volume is controlled by Front mixer
commit 119b75c150773425a89033215eab4d15d4198f8b upstream.

On some ASUS and MSI machines, the audio codec is alc1220 and the
Headphone is connected to audio mixer 0xf and DAC 0x5, in theory
the Headphone volume is controlled by DAC 0x5 (Heapdhone Playback
Volume), but somehow it is controlled by DAC 0x2 (Front Playback
Volume), maybe this is a defect on the codec alc1220.

Because of this issue, the PA couldn't switch the headphone and
Lineout correctly, If we apply the quirk CLEVO_P950 to those machines,
the Lineout and Headphone will share the audio mixer 0xc and DAC 0x2,
and generate Headphone+LO mixer, then PA could handle them when
switching between them.

Takashi Iwai 2331f25928 ALSA: hda/realtek: Fix silent headphone output on ASUS UX430UA
commit 8eedd3a70a70f51fa963f3ad7fa97afd0c75bd44 upstream.

It was reported that the headphone output on ASUS UX430UA (SSID
1043:1740) with ALC295 codec is silent while the speaker works.
After the investigation, it turned out that the DAC assignment has to
be fixed on this machine; unlike others, it expects DAC 0x02 to be
assigned to the speaker pin 0x07 while DAC 0x03 to headphone pin
0x21.

This patch provides a fixup for the fixed DAC/pin mapping for this
device.

Hui Wang be1f7f30b6 ALSA: hda/realtek: reset eapd coeff to default value for alc287
commit 8822702f6e4c8917c83ba79e0ebf2c8c218910d4 upstream.

Ubuntu users reported an audio bug on the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14IIL05,
he installed dual OS (Windows + Linux), if he booted to the Linux
from Windows, the Speaker can't work well, it has crackling noise,
if he poweroff the machine first after Windows, the Speaker worked
well.

Before rebooting or shutdown from Windows, the Windows changes the
codec eapd coeff value, but the BIOS doesn't re-initialize its value,
when booting into the Linux from Windows, the eapd coeff value is not
correct. To fix it, set the codec default value to that coeff register
in the alsa driver.

Greg Kroah-Hartman f95aabb6ae Revert "ALSA: sb8: add a check for request_region"
commit 94f88309f201821073f57ae6005caefa61bf7b7e upstream.

This reverts commit dcd0feac9b.

Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all
commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were
correct or not.

Upon review, this commit was found to be incorrect for the reasons
below, so it must be reverted. It will be fixed up "correctly" in a
later kernel change.

The original commit message for this change was incorrect as the code
path can never result in a NULL dereference, alluding to the fact that
whatever tool was used to "find this" is broken. It's just an optional
resource reservation, so removing this check is fine.

Takashi Sakamoto 7ef36d3035 ALSA: bebob/oxfw: fix Kconfig entry for Mackie d.2 Pro
commit 0edabdfe89581669609eaac5f6a8d0ae6fe95e7f upstream.

Mackie d.2 has an extension card for IEEE 1394 communication, which uses
BridgeCo DM1000 ASIC. On the other hand, Mackie d.4 Pro has built-in
function for IEEE 1394 communication by Oxford Semiconductor OXFW971,
according to schematic diagram available in Mackie website. Although I
misunderstood that Mackie d.2 Pro would be also a model with OXFW971,
it's wrong. Mackie d.2 Pro is a model which includes the extension card
as factory settings.

This commit fixes entries in Kconfig and comment in ALSA OXFW driver.

commit 1b6604896e78969baffc1b6cc6bc175f95929ac4 upstream.

Alesis iO 26 FireWire has two pairs of digital optical interface. It
delivers PCM frames from the interfaces by second isochronous packet
streaming. Although both of the interfaces are available at 44.1/48.0
kHz, first one of them is only available at 88.2/96.0 kHz. It reduces
the number of PCM samples to 4 in Multi Bit Linear Audio data channel
of data blocks on the second isochronous packet streaming.

Takashi Iwai f72b96ff79 ALSA: line6: Fix racy initialization of LINE6 MIDI
commit 05ca447630334c323c9e2b788b61133ab75d60d3 upstream.

The initialization of MIDI devices that are found on some LINE6
drivers are currently done in a racy way; namely, the MIDI buffer
instance is allocated and initialized in each private_init callback
while the communication with the interface is already started via
line6_init_cap_control() call before that point. This may lead to
Oops in line6_data_received() when a spurious event is received, as
reported by syzkaller.

This patch moves the MIDI initialization to line6_init_cap_control()
as well instead of the too-lately-called private_init for avoiding the
race. Also this reduces slightly more lines, so it's a win-win
change.

Takashi Iwai 048840df6d ALSA: intel8x0: Don't update period unless prepared
commit c1f0616124c455c5c762b6f123e40bba5df759e6 upstream.

The interrupt handler of intel8x0 calls snd_intel8x0_update() whenever
the hardware sets the corresponding status bit for each stream. This
works fine for most cases as long as the hardware behaves properly.
But when the hardware gives a wrong bit set, this leads to a zero-
division Oops, and reportedly, this seems what happened on a VM.

For fixing the crash, this patch adds a internal flag indicating that
the stream is ready to be updated, and check it (as well as the flag
being in suspended) to ignore such spurious update.

[ Upstream commit f48652bbe3ae62ba2835a396b7e01f063e51c4cd ]

Without this change, the DAC ctl's name could be changed only when
the machine has both Speaker and Headphone, but we met some machines
which only has Lineout and Headhpone, and the Lineout and Headphone
share the Audio Mixer0 and DAC0, the ctl's name is set to "Front".

On most of machines, the "Front" is used for Speaker only or Lineout
only, but on this machine it is shared by Lineout and Headphone,
This introduces an issue in the pipewire and pulseaudio, suppose users
want the Headphone to be on and the Speaker/Lineout to be off, they
could turn off the "Front", this works on most of the machines, but on
this machine, the "Front" couldn't be turned off otherwise the
headphone will be off too. Here we do some change to let the ctl's
name change to "Headphone+LO" on this machine, and pipewire and
pulseaudio already could handle "Headphone+LO" and "Speaker+LO".

Kuninori Morimoto 7f4ac21468 ASoC: rsnd: check all BUSIF status when error
commit a4856e15e58b54977f1c0c0299309ad4d1f13365 upstream.

commit 66c705d07d784 ("SoC: rsnd: add interrupt support for SSI BUSIF
buffer") adds __rsnd_ssi_interrupt() checks for BUSIF status,
but is using "break" at for loop.
This means it is not checking all status. Let's check all BUSIF status.

[ Upstream commit aa2f9c12821e6a4ba1df4fb34a3dbc6a2a1ee7fe ]

The ALC3263 codec on the XPS 13 9343 is also found on the Latitude 13 7350
and Venue 11 Pro 7140. They require the same handling for the combo jack to
work with a headset: GPIO pin 6 must be set.

The HDA driver always sets this pin on the ALC3263, which it distinguishes
by the codec vendor/device ID 0x10ec0288 and PCI subsystem vendor ID 0x1028
(Dell). The ASoC driver does not use PCI, so adapt this check to use DMI to
determine if Dell is the system vendor.

Kai Vehmanen 9fc2c95794 ALSA: hda/hdmi: fix race in handling acomp ELD notification at resume
[ Upstream commit 0c37e2eb6b83e375e8a654d01598292d5591fc65 ]

When snd-hda-codec-hdmi is used with ASoC HDA controller like SOF (acomp
used for ELD notifications), display connection change done during suspend,
can be lost due to following sequence of events:

  1. system in S3 suspend
  2. DP/HDMI receiver connected
  3. system resumed
  4. HDA controller resumed, but card->deferred_resume_work not complete
  5. acomp eld_notify callback
  6. eld_notify ignored as power state is not CTL_POWER_D0
  7. HDA resume deferred work completed, power state set to CTL_POWER_D0

This results in losing the notification, and the jack state reported to
user-space is not correct.

The check on step 6 was added in commit 8ae743e82f ("ALSA: hda - Skip
ELD notification during system suspend"). It would seem with the deferred
resume logic in ASoC core, this check is not safe.

Fix the issue by modifying the check to use "dev.power.power_state.event"
instead of ALSA specific card power state variable.

Kuninori Morimoto ae33b2f845 ASoC: rsnd: call rsnd_ssi_master_clk_start() from rsnd_ssi_init()
[ Upstream commit a122a116fc6d8fcf2f202dcd185173a54268f239 ]

Current rsnd needs to call .prepare (P) for clock settings,
.trigger for playback start (S) and stop (E).
It should be called as below from SSI point of view.

	P -> S -> E -> P -> S -> E -> ...

But, if you used MIXer, below case might happen

	              (2)
	1: P -> S ---> E -> ...
	2:         P ----> S -> ...
	          (1) (3)

P(1) setups clock, but E(2) resets it. and starts playback (3).
In such case, it will reports "SSI parent/child should use same rate".

rsnd_ssi_master_clk_start() which is the main function at (P)
was called from rsnd_ssi_init() (= S) before,
but was moved by below patch to rsnd_soc_dai_prepare() (= P) to avoid
using clk_get_rate() which shouldn't be used under atomic context.

commit 4d230d1271 ("ASoC: rsnd: fixup not to call clk_get/set
				under non-atomic")

Because of above patch, rsnd_ssi_master_clk_start() is now called at (P)
which is for non atomic context. But (P) is assuming that spin lock is
*not* used.
One issue now is rsnd_ssi_master_clk_start() is checking ssi->xxx
which should be protected by spin lock.

After above patch, adg.c had below patch for other reasons.

	commit 06e8f5c842 ("ASoC: rsnd: don't call clk_get_rate()
				under atomic context")

clk_get_rate() is used at probe() timing by this patch.
In other words, rsnd_ssi_master_clk_start() is no longer using
clk_get_rate() any more.

This means we can call it from rsnd_ssi_init() (= S) again which is
protected by spin lock.
This patch re-move it to under spin lock, and solves
1. checking ssi->xxx without spin lock issue.
2. clk setting / device start / device stop race condition.

[ Upstream commit 19c6a63ced5e07e40f3a5255cb1f0fe0d3be7b14 ]

snd_pcm_hw_params_set_rate_near can return incorrect sample rate in
some cases, e.g. when the backend output rate is set to some value higher
than 48000 Hz and the input rate is 8000 Hz. So passing the value returned
by snd_pcm_hw_params_set_rate_near to snd_pcm_hw_params will result in
"FSO/FSI ratio error" and playing no audio at all while the userland
is not properly notified about the issue.

If SRC is unable to convert the requested sample rate to the sample rate
the backend is using, then the requested sample rate should be adjusted in
rsnd_hw_params. The userland will be notified about that change in the
returned hw_params structure.

Colin Ian King 8d77c95643 ALSA: usb: midi: don't return -ENOMEM when usb_urb_ep_type_check fails
[ Upstream commit cfd577acb769301b19c31361d45ae1f145318b7a ]

Currently when the call to usb_urb_ep_type_check fails (returning -EINVAL)
the error return path returns -ENOMEM via the exit label "error". Other
uses of the same error exit label set the err variable to -ENOMEM but this
is not being used. I believe the original intent was for the error exit
path to return the value in err rather than the hard coded -ENOMEM, so
return this rather than the hard coded -ENOMEM.

[ Upstream commit fa74c223b6fd78a5314b4c61b9abdbed3c2185b4 ]

The 'single_cpu' local variable is assigned by asoc_simple_parse_dai()
and later used in a asoc_simple_canonicalize_cpu() call, assuming the
entire function did not exit on errors.

However the first function returns 0 if passed device_node is NULL,

Sami Loone 027de80194 ALSA: hda/realtek: ALC285 Thinkpad jack pin quirk is unreachable
commit 266fd994b2b0ab7ba3e5541868838ce30775964b upstream.

In 9bbb94e57df1 ("ALSA: hda/realtek: fix static noise on ALC285 Lenovo
laptops") an existing Lenovo quirk was made more generic by removing a
0x12 pin requirement from the entry. This made the second chance table
Thinkpad jack entry unreachable as the pin configurations became
identical.

Revert the 0x12 pin requirement removal and move Thinkpad jack pin quirk
back to the primary pin table as they can co-exist when more specific
configurations come first.

Add a more targeted pin quirk for Lenovo devices that have 0x12 as
0x40000000.

Tested on Yoga 6 (AMD) laptop.

commit defce244b01ee12534910a4544e11be5eb927d25 upstream.

The quirk entry for Uniwill ECS M31EI is with the PCI SSID device 0,
which means matching with all. That is, it's essentially equivalent
with SND_PCI_QUIRK_VENDOR(0x1584), which also matches with the
previous entry for Haier W18 applying the very same quirk.

Let's unify them with the single vendor-quirk entry.

Lukasz Majczak 4dce2a19e7 ASoC: Intel: kbl_da7219_max98927: Fix kabylake_ssp_fixup function
commit a523ef731ac6674dc07574f31bf44cc5bfa14e4d upstream.

kabylake_ssp_fixup function uses snd_soc_dpcm to identify the
codecs DAIs. The HW parameters are changed based on the codec DAI of the
stream. The earlier approach to get snd_soc_dpcm was using container_of()
macro on snd_pcm_hw_params.

The structures have been modified over time and snd_soc_dpcm does not have
snd_pcm_hw_params as a reference but as a copy. This causes the current
driver to crash when used.

This patch changes the way snd_soc_dpcm is extracted. snd_soc_pcm_runtime
holds 2 dpcm instances (one for playback and one for capture). 2 codecs
on the SSP are dmic (capture) and speakers (playback). Based on the
stream direction, snd_soc_dpcm is extracted from snd_soc_pcm_runtime.

Tested for all use cases of the driver.

The args is a stack variable, so it could have junk (uninitialized)
therefore args.np could have a non-NULL and random value even though

There's no need to check for args.np because args.np won't be

commit 9bbb94e57df135ef61bef075d9c99b8d9e89e246 upstream.

Remove a duplicate vendor+subvendor pin fixup entry as one is masking
the other and making it unreachable. Consider the more specific newcomer
as a second chance instead.

The generic entry is made less strict to also match for laptops with
slightly different 0x12 pin configuration. Tested on Lenovo Yoga 6 (AMD)
where 0x12 is 0x40000000.

Phil Calvin ee47a64149 ALSA: hda/realtek: fix mic boost on Intel NUC 8
commit d1ee66c5d3c5a0498dd5e3f2af5b8c219a98bba5 upstream.

Fix two bugs with the Intel HDA Realtek ALC233 sound codec
present in Intel NUC NUC8i7BEH and probably a few other similar
NUC models.

These codecs advertise a 4-level microphone input boost amplifier on
pin 0x19, but the highest two boost settings do not work correctly,
and produce only low analog noise that does not seem to contain any
discernible signal. There is an existing fixup for this exact problem
but for a different PCI subsystem ID, so we re-use that logic.

Changing the boost level also triggers a DC spike in the input signal
that bleeds off over about a second and overwhelms any input during
that time. Thankfully, the existing fixup has the side effect of
making the boost control show up in userspace as a mute/unmute switch,
and this keeps (e.g.) PulseAudio from fiddling with it during normal
input volume adjustments.

Finally, the NUC hardware has built-in inverted stereo mics. This
patch also enables the usual fixup for this so the two channels cancel
noise instead of the actual signal.

Takashi Iwai adba683c57 ALSA: usb-audio: Explicitly set up the clock selector
commit d2e8f641257d0d3af6e45d6ac2d6f9d56b8ea964 upstream.

In the current code, we have some assumption that the audio clock
selector has been set up implicitly and don't want to touch it unless
it's really needed for the fallback autoclock setup. This works for
most devices but some seem having a problem. Partially this was
covered for the devices with a single connector at the initialization
phase (commit 086b957cc17f "ALSA: usb-audio: Skip the clock selector
inquiry for single connections"), but also there are cases where the
wrong clock set up is kept silently. The latter seems to be the cause
of the noises on Behringer devices.

In this patch, we explicitly set up the audio clock selector whenever
the appropriate node is found.

Lv Yunlong 93588ea2fb ALSA: sb: Fix two use after free in snd_sb_qsound_build
commit 4fb44dd2c1dda18606348acdfdb97e8759dde9df upstream.

In snd_sb_qsound_build, snd_ctl_add(..,p->qsound_switch...) and
snd_ctl_add(..,p->qsound_space..) are called. But the second
arguments of snd_ctl_add() could be freed via snd_ctl_add_replace()
->snd_ctl_free_one(). After the error code is returned,
snd_sb_qsound_destroy(p) is called in __error branch.

But in snd_sb_qsound_destroy(), the freed p->qsound_switch and
p->qsound_space are still used by snd_ctl_remove().

My patch set p->qsound_switch and p->qsound_space to NULL if
snd_ctl_add() failed to avoid the uaf bugs. But these codes need
to further be improved with the code style.

commit 1c98f574403dbcf2eb832d5535a10d967333ef2d upstream.

Our code analyzer reported a uaf.

In snd_emu8000_create_mixer, the callee snd_ctl_add(..,emu->controls[i])
calls snd_ctl_add_replace(.., kcontrol,..). Inside snd_ctl_add_replace(),
if error happens, kcontrol will be freed by snd_ctl_free_one(kcontrol).
Then emu->controls[i] points to a freed memory, and the execution comes
to __error branch of snd_emu8000_create_mixer. The freed emu->controls[i]
is used in snd_ctl_remove(card, emu->controls[i]).

My patch set emu->controls[i] to NULL if snd_ctl_add() failed to avoid
the uaf.

commit aa65bacdb70e549a81de03ec72338e1047842883 upstream.

The SST firmware's media and deep-buffer inputs are hardcoded to
S16LE, the corresponding DAIs don't have a hw_params callback and
their prepare callback also does not take the format into account.

So far the advertising of non working S24LE support has not caused
issues because pulseaudio defaults to S16LE, but changing pulse-audio's
config to use S24LE will result in broken sound.

Pipewire is replacing pulse now and pipewire prefers S24LE over S16LE
when available, causing the problem of the broken S24LE support to
come to the surface now.

Hui Wang c3715f06f9 ALSA: hda/realtek: call alc_update_headset_mode() in hp_automute_hook
commit e54f30befa7990b897189b44a56c1138c6bfdbb5 upstream.

We found the alc_update_headset_mode() is not called on some machines
when unplugging the headset, as a result, the mode of the
ALC_HEADSET_MODE_UNPLUGGED can't be set, then the current_headset_type
is not cleared, if users plug a differnt type of headset next time,
the determine_headset_type() will not be called and the audio jack is
set to the headset type of previous time.

On the Dell machines which connect the dmic to the PCH, if we open
the gnome-sound-setting and unplug the headset, this issue will
happen. Those machines disable the auto-mute by ucm and has no
internal mic in the input source, so the update_headset_mode() will
not be called by cap_sync_hook or automute_hook when unplugging, and
because the gnome-sound-setting is opened, the codec will not enter
the runtime_suspend state, so the update_headset_mode() will not be
called by alc_resume when unplugging. In this case the
hp_automute_hook is called when unplugging, so add
update_headset_mode() calling to this function.

Hui Wang 09a08fd899 ALSA: hda/realtek: fix a determine_headset_type issue for a Dell AIO
commit febf22565549ea7111e7d45e8f2d64373cc66b11 upstream.

We found a recording issue on a Dell AIO, users plug a headset-mic and
select headset-mic from UI, but can't record any sound from
headset-mic. The root cause is the determine_headset_type() returns a
wrong type, e.g. users plug a ctia type headset, but that function
returns omtp type.

On this machine, the internal mic is not connected to the codec, the
"Input Source" is headset mic by default. And when users plug a
headset, the determine_headset_type() will be called immediately, the
codec on this AIO is alc274, the delay time for this codec in the
determine_headset_type() is only 80ms, the delay is too short to
correctly determine the headset type, the fail rate is nearly 99% when
users plug the headset with the normal speed.

Other codecs set several hundred ms delay time, so here I change the
delay time to 850ms for alc2x4 series, after this change, the fail
rate is zero unless users plug the headset slowly on purpose.

[ Upstream commit f86f58e3594fb0ab1993d833d3b9a2496f3c928c ]

According to the SGTL5000 datasheet [1], the DAP_AVC_CTRL register has
the following bit field definitions:

| BITS | FIELD | RW | RESET | DEFINITION |
| 15 | RSVD | RO | 0x0 | Reserved |
| 14 | RSVD | RW | 0x1 | Reserved |
| 13:12 | MAX_GAIN | RW | 0x1 | Max Gain of AVC in expander mode |
| 11:10 | RSVD | RO | 0x0 | Reserved |
| 9:8 | LBI_RESP | RW | 0x1 | Integrator Response |
| 7:6 | RSVD | RO | 0x0 | Reserved |
| 5 | HARD_LMT_EN | RW | 0x0 | Enable hard limiter mode |
| 4:1 | RSVD | RO | 0x0 | Reserved |
| 0 | EN | RW | 0x0 | Enable/Disable AVC |

The original default value written to the DAP_AVC_CTRL register during
sgtl5000_i2c_probe() was 0x0510. This would incorrectly write values to
bits 4 and 10, which are defined as RESERVED. It would also not set
bits 12 and 14 to their correct RESET values of 0x1, and instead set
them to 0x0. While the DAP_AVC module is effectively disabled because
the EN bit is 0, this default value is still writing invalid values to
registers that are marked as read-only and RESERVED as well as not
setting bits 12 and 14 to their correct default values as defined by the
datasheet.

The correct value that should be written to the DAP_AVC_CTRL register is
0x5100, which configures the register bits to the default values defined
by the datasheet, and prevents any writes to bits defined as
'read-only'. Generally speaking, it is best practice to NOT attempt to
write values to registers/bits defined as RESERVED, as it generally
produces unwanted/undefined behavior, or errors.

Also, all credit for this patch should go to my colleague Dan MacDonald
<dmacdonald@curbellmedical.com> for finding this error in the first
place.

Hans de Goede 57b8a19287 ASoC: rt5651: Fix dac- and adc- vol-tlv values being off by a factor of 10
[ Upstream commit eee51df776bd6cac10a76b2779a9fdee3f622b2b ]

The adc_vol_tlv volume-control has a range from -17.625 dB to +30 dB,
not -176.25 dB to + 300 dB. This wrong scale is esp. a problem in userspace
apps which translate the dB scale to a linear scale. With the logarithmic
dB scale being of by a factor of 10 we loose all precision in the lower
area of the range when apps translate things to a linear scale.

E.g. the 0 dB default, which corresponds with a value of 47 of the
0 - 127 range for the control, would be shown as 0/100 in alsa-mixer.

Since the centi-dB values used in the TLV struct cannot represent the
0.375 dB step size used by these controls, change the TLV definition
for them to specify a min and max value instead of min + stepsize.

Note this mirrors commit 3f31f7d9b540 ("ASoC: rt5670: Fix dac- and adc-

Mark Pearson 537653a069 ALSA: hda: ignore invalid NHLT table
[ Upstream commit a14a6219996ee6f6e858d83b11affc7907633687 ]

On some Lenovo systems if the microphone is disabled in the BIOS
only the NHLT table header is created, with no data. This means
the endpoints field is not correctly set to zero - leading to an
unintialised variable and hence invalid descriptors are parsed
leading to page faults.

The Lenovo firmware team is addressing this, but adding a check
preventing invalid tables being parsed is worthwhile.

Tested on a Lenovo T14.

This reverts commit 1e30f642cf29 ("ASoC: simple-card-utils: Fix device

which depends on set_sysclk() to configure internal PLL on wm8904 codec
and expects simple-card-utils to not update the MCLK rate.
 - "arch/arm64/boot/dts/freescale/fsl-ls1028a-kontron-sl28-var3-ads2.dts"

It would be best if codec takes care of setting MCLK clock via DAI

commit 2bf44e0ee95f39cc54ea1b942f0a027e0181ca4e upstream.

Recently we found the micmute led init state is not correct after
freshly installing the ubuntu linux on a Lenovo AIO machine. The
internal mic is not muted, but the micmute led is on and led mode is
'follow mute'. If we mute internal mic, the led is keeping on, then
unmute the internal mic, the led is off. And from then on, the
micmute led will work correctly.

So the micmute led init state is not correct. The led is controlled
by codec gpio (ALC233_FIXUP_LENOVO_LINE2_MIC_HOTKEY), in the
patch_realtek, the gpio data is set to 0x4 initially and the led is
on with this data. In the hda_generic, the led_value is set to
0 initially, suppose users set the 'capture switch' to on from
user space and the micmute led should change to be off with this
operation, but the check "if (val == spec->micmute_led.led_value)" in
the call_micmute_led_update() will skip the led setting.

To guarantee the led state will be set by the 1st time of changing
"Capture Switch", set -1 to the init led_value.

commit 06abcb18b3a021ba1a3f2020cbefb3ed04e59e72 upstream.

Other Plantronics headset models seem requiring the same workaround as
C320-M to add the 20ms delay for the control messages, too. Apply the
workaround generically for devices with the vendor ID 0x047f.

Note that the problem didn't surface before 5.11 just with luck.
Since 5.11 got a big code rewrite about the stream handling, the
parameter setup procedure has changed, and this seemed triggering the
problem more often.

Takashi Iwai 2b7615c97b ALSA: hda: Avoid spurious unsol event handling during S3/S4
commit 5ff9dde42e8c72ed8102eb8cb62e03f9dc2103ab upstream.

When HD-audio bus receives unsolicited events during its system
suspend/resume (S3 and S4) phase, the controller driver may still try
to process events although the codec chips are already (or yet)
powered down. This might screw up the codec communication, resulting
in CORB/RIRB errors. Such events should be rather skipped, as the
codec chip status such as the jack status will be fully refreshed at
the system resume time.

Since we're tracking the system suspend/resume state in codec
power.power_state field, let's add the check in the common unsol event
handler entry point to filter out such events.

Takashi Iwai bb060148e2 ALSA: hda: Flush pending unsolicited events before suspend
commit 13661fc48461282e43fe8f76bf5bf449b3d40687 upstream.

The HD-audio controller driver processes the unsolicited events via
its work asynchronously, and this might be pending when the system
goes to suspend. When a lengthy event handling like ELD byte reads is
running, this might trigger unexpected accesses among suspend/resume
procedure, typically seen with Nvidia driver that still requires the
handling via unsolicited event verbs for ELD updates.

This patch adds the flush of unsol_work to assure that pending events
are processed before going into suspend.

commit 28e96c1693ec1cdc963807611f8b5ad400431e82 upstream.

The commit c02f77d32d ("ALSA: hda - Workaround for crackled sound on
AMD controller (1022:1457)") introduced a few workarounds for the
recent AMD HD-audio controller, and one of them is the forced BATCH
PCM mode so that PulseAudio avoids the timer-based scheduling. This
was thought to cover for some badly working applications, but this
actually worsens for more others. In total, this wasn't a good idea
to enforce it.

This is a partial revert of the commit above for dropping the PCM
BATCH enforcement part to recover from the regression again.

The per_pin->work might be still floating at the suspend, and this may
hit the access to the hardware at an unexpected timing. Cancel the
work properly at the suspend callback for avoiding the buggy access.

Note that the bug doesn't trigger easily in the recent kernels since
the work is queued only when the repoll count is set, and usually it's
only at the resume callback, but it's still possible to hit in

[ Upstream commit a864e8f159b13babf552aff14a5fbe11abc017e4 ]

Multiple bug reports report issues with the SOF and SST drivers when
dealing with single microphone cases.

We currently read the DMIC array information unconditionally but we
don't check that the configuration type is actually a mic array.

When the DMIC link does not rely on a mic array configuration, the
recommendation is to check the format information to infer the maximum
number of channels, and map this to the number of microphones.

This leaves a potential for a mismatch between actual microphones
available in hardware and what the ACPI table contains, but we have no
other source of information.

Note that single microphone configurations can alternatively be
handled with a 'mic array' configuration along with a 'vendor-defined'
geometry.

The function daio_mgr_dao_init can be passed a 4 bit value,
function dao_rsc_init calls it with conf set to:

     conf = (desc->msr & 0x7) | (desc->passthru << 3);

so clearly when desc->passthru is set to 1 then conf can be
at least 8.

Fix this by changing the mask to 0xf.

commit 73e7161eab5dee98114987239ec9c87fe8034ddb upstream.

This adds a new SND_PCI_QUIRK(...) and applies it to the Intel NUC 10
devices. This fixes the issue of the devices not having audio input and
output on the headset jack because the kernel does not recognize when
something is plugged in.

The new quirk was inspired by the quirk for the Intel NUC 8 devices, but
it turned out that the NUC 10 uses another pin. This information was
acquired by black box testing likely pins.

[ Upstream commit c58947af08aedbdee0fce5ea6e6bf3e488ae0e2c ]

The Acer One S1002 tablet is using an analog mic on IN1 and has
its jack-detect connected to JD2_IN4N, instead of using the default
IN3 for its internal mic and JD1_IN4P for jack-detect.

Note it is also using AIF2 instead of AIF1 which is somewhat unusual,
this is correctly advertised in the ACPI CHAN package, so the speakers
do work without the quirk.

[ Upstream commit de5bfae2fd962a9da99f56382305ec7966a604b9 ]

The correct mask is 0x1f8 (Bit 3-8), but due to missing BIT() 0xf (Bit
0-3) was set instead. This means setting of CPCAP_BIT_MIC1_RX_TIMESLOT0
(Bit 3) still worked (part of both masks). On the other hand the code
does not properly clear the other MIC timeslot bits. I think this
is not a problem, since they are probably initialized to 0 and not
touched by the driver anywhere else. But the mask also contains some
wrong bits, that will be cleared. Bit 0 (CPCAP_BIT_SMB_CDC) should be
safe, since the driver enforces it to be 0 anyways.

Bit 1-2 are CPCAP_BIT_FS_INV and CPCAP_BIT_CLK_INV. This means enabling
audio recording forces the codec into SND_SOC_DAIFMT_NB_NF mode, which
is obviously bad.

The bug probably remained undetected, because there are not many use
cases for routing microphone to the CPU on platforms using cpcap and
user base is small. I do remember having some issues with bad sound
quality when testing voice recording back when I wrote the driver.
It probably was this bug.

It turned out, however, that bus->sysdev is a more appropriate device
to be used for DMA mapping in HCD code.

This patch corrects the device reference accordingly.

Note that, on most platforms, both point to the very same device,
hence this patch doesn't change anything practically. But on
